(incidentally most students who actually BOTHER to go to the games sit on their hands quite a bit too)

But the premise of this entire thread is about the apathy of the students. Students SHOULD get free tickets because they're students and they pay their tuition/athletic fees (or whatever they're called now). If you stick them in the worst seats in the house, don't then decry their disinterest in the games.

It's a trade-off: either the University can make more money by selling the good seats to the older, quieter, wealthier fans and have a gameday atmosphere like UNC or UTK, or they can give the louder, rowdier fans (the students) those seats and have a better atmosphere like Duke and New Mexico.
same thing at Louisville.. their crowd was boring too... even with the "white out " they ordered up.

I sit in nose bleeds, which i pay for, i would love to sit in those "crappy seats". We should just double the band and let them have more seats, they are the true Blue Crew.

it's not that hard to understand.. they give the students the worst seats in the house

In the Tomb of Doom days when i was a student we used to sit right behind the opposing team's bench. what happened to crowd surfing Tom and throwing confetti when the first point is scored.

it's a drawback of not having a on campus arena. You can't configure the seats like you want them and students can't just walk across campus to the games. They give the Blue hairs the good seats and they just for the most part sit on their hands. The few games i went to last year are just for the most part boring.

The students need to be on the sidelines.. It just creates a different atmosphere. But hey the school needs that blue hair donation money.

The hard truth is Gizz games are more fun to go to than the tigers games. Tigers games are better watched on tv.

NObody GIVES them those seats.

Pay for them and you get them.
i mentioned that in my post.... do you think a student can afford those tickets?

I knew someone would be bothered with the mention of blue hairs and big donors. We pay plenty for our seats however I do not have a problem with the students getting some seats on the sidelines.

I agree. The student section may not have the best seats in the house, but they do have many of the "better" seats.

Any student that wants to trade seats with me please let me know. I am in the upper deck and those are still a good bit of money each year. I would love have the seats the students get. I could care less that they are in the end-zone.

When I attended Memphis State I seldom attended games because working and studying took priority. I surmise my situation is shared by most students attending the school today.

I was in the same boat - school during the week and work on nights and weekends. I normally made it to games 3 or 4 times a season but I had to make a special effort. I really wish I could have made it to more games as a student.

It's a chance to go to see the Tigers play in person and for free. That should be enough. There are plenty of people who pay for much worse seats and do it gladly, myself included.

We can sit here all day, but fact of the matter is our students suck and just don't care. If they cared, they'd be there every game regardless of where they sit or who we are playing.

There are 20,000 students that attend the U of M. Pretty sure not even close to that amount have schedules that keep them from attending games.

Over 23,000. Enrollment is up quite a bit.

RE: Hey Blue Crew!
I've said this on the countless other threads, but alas, again....

Why are we not using the Lets Move Down app to fill these seats? We already have the technology in place, but the empty student seats are not included?

I installed the app and checked it out during a recent Grizzlies game and had the opportunity shortly after tip off to pay $20 per seat to move from my Terrace level seats down into the first few rows of Club Level.

Why couldn't this option be made available to the die hards sitting in the Terrace level 16-18 times each season?

How many of you would pay a little bit to move down to the last 10 rows of 101 or 117 for a game a few times per season?

Seems like this could be accomodated somehow with very little effort.

I was a student once, and I went to games. Still, there weren't a ton of students even then. It's up to the admin to effectuate a culture change.

As for seeing the Tigers play for free, you don't know what you've got til it's gone. Most of the students don't realize what an awesome thing it is getting free tickets until they've graduated and are paying their own bills. That's why they're dumb college students.

And to this point.... i attended college at MTSU and so didn't attend many Tiger's games during my "college years." but I am now a non-traditional student at UofM (31 y/o with a family) taking night classes to continue my education and I've only missed one home game this year and have a friend or family member with a guest ticket by my side at each game.

It's a priority thing. It just isn't a huge priority for an 19 y/o to drive downtown for the games.

All this being said, I understand there was a significant line in freezing weather when the ticket office opened in the HofF when the guest tickets went on sale to the students for the Spring semester games. So i expect a good showing tonight and, at least, the last few regular season home games.
