Chris Thurmond (Rice DC for HC)
One of the hottest names in CUSA and someone who did as good of a job as anyone in the conference was Chris Thurmond at Rice. A former coach at Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas A&M I think he would be a great choice and a great fit. Thoughts?

Nope. Didn't just sign up, just haven't posted. Just a thought, no need to talk mess. Just someone who does more with less talent.

So, your Rice Owls win a conference championship and go to the Liberty Bowl, but your first post is here. Now that is funny.

This is the guy that gave up 44 points to Mississippi State right?

So...you are saying that Rice's defense is as good as Texas A&M's...and you are using this to help your case?

Do some research before you knock the guy. Players love playing for him and would run through a wall for him. Total defense was ranked 24th in the country. And probably wouldn't bolt first chance he got for a better job like most guys would. An Alabama guy...

What sources during your research provided this conclusion? Was the survey given to all players? Did the players provide preference to one type of wall to another? For instance, did evidence show that the players were willing to run through a cardboard wall but not a brick wall?

We should put this guy and john neal on a staff together. that team would never lose, and every player could play through any injury.

And we would only need 11 guys on scholarship. Travel would be easy and costs would be under budget.

Just because someone comes to the board and makes a suggestion doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it.

Appreciate it 82Blazer. Was just an honest question... No I am not a relative of Coach Thurmond. Just happen to be a fan of him and he's a great coach and thought he would be a quality candidate.

Dude, they're just jerking your chain. It's not personal. Folks are a bit ill-tempered and crabby about now for some reason.

He might be better than some coaches that will actually be considered for the job. I do remember the name when he was at UAT (maybe the Franchione era?).

Thanks for the name, Counterguru! I've never heard of him, but I'd never heard of Jerod Haase as a coach either until our AD hired him as our basketball coach.

Anybody associated with Alabama probably would not be a good bet right now.

Especially someone associated with a coach from Alabama that skipped town.
