Even though Lipscomb is better than their record, you have to win this one at home.

Just a horrible performance against a bad team. Something we have watched for ten years. No excuses can cover it. Pretty soon we get to hear that all that matters is "three games in March".

RE: Official Game Thread: Lipscomb (L 80-82)
The classic "Bartow Zone" bit us in the a** tonight. Countless uncontested three after another. Not only did our offense consist of passing it around the perimeter, with no one moving underneath the basket, we hardly went into PRESS defense in the first half; our bread and butter on D. I really don't understand Bartow's coaching style one bit after watching the game tonight.

Definitely a step backward. Back to 8-8.

"You know Jay, its tough to win at home" HA

Aaaaaand 0 minutes for Banks and Harris. He must have forgotten about them.
Banks has proven that he can help down low, and Petey continues to give us largely empty minutes. You can bank on <5 pts, <4 assists, and <3 rebounds in 25+ minutes. Why not give Harris some of those minutes and see what happens??

In typical Murry Bartow fashion, it's one step forward, two steps back.

I agree with you about the lack of PT for Banks and Harris, especially Banks. And what about Giplaye? Is conditioning an issue? Does he in not fit in Bartow's hard-and-fast rule that his rotation ends at 8--no matter what.

I like Petey's role this year. He's an underrated defender, and he's just gives solid, relatively mistake-free minutes. He's obviously not a scorer, and I think that his lack assists reflect an offense that's predicated on far too much one-on-one play.

I think it's time we start writing to Noland and Sander.

As stated by other posters, this was a classic Bartow game. Stay in the zone, short bench, and wait until its too late to press. If we press earlier, I think we could have been up at least by 7 or 8 in the closing minutes.

RE: Official Game Thread: Lipscomb (L 80-82)
Petey is not a division 1 level shooter (even free throws), but I would rather have him on the court in many situations than Riley. As much as Riley can hit shots, he also takes dumb shots and way too many of them. I have always liked the point guards that simply do not make mistakes and run the offense. Of course half of the time we have our center being our point guard, so I don't know what to think sometimes.

I too am frustrated by the lack of playing time for Banks. Poderis gets to play some and his only value really is to take up space (which is indeed valuable) and to pick up fouls.

I do not think it is time to start writing to anyone. Everyone that follows the program knows what you get with Bartow- and these types of games are part of the package. Sander either knows that it isn't good enough, or he doesn't.

Sander gets plenty of letters regarding Bartow. Losses like this one will cost him his job.

Why the man-to-man defense at the end? It didn't work in the first half. We play zone all the time, it's what we know, and we don't how to play man-to-man defense. Why didn't we have a timeout left? And why is Banks sitting? What about Giplaye, are we abandoning him too? It's inexplicable.

Yeah I really don't understand not using Giplaye. I realize heart surgery is a serious thing and if that's why he isn't playing wouldn't he be eligible for a medical redshirt? If he's not playing because Bartow just doesn't like to use his bench then it looks like we've wasted an entire year on him. I just don't get it. I don't get not using Banks either, he looked solid against KSU. Harris should be getting much more minutes too.

Outside of free throws Riley is a horrible shooter. 338 from the field and .319 from 3pt range and he has taken the 2nd most shots on the team behind ReShawn all while being 7th in minutes played (though he is quickly closing in on Lester for 6th). Throw out the game against Tusculum and his stats get really sad, his best percentage in a game where he has taken more then 5 shots (he had a 1-2 and 2-4 game) is 4-10 against Winthrop. Bartow said last night the plan was to get the ball to Riley for the last shot, knowing his stats I don't understand why.

Also this morning on the Monster he said he could have pressed at the end on the final shot but he doesn't like to.
