New Star...New nickname
"Point a minute Poulter". Four minutes, four points for Andrew. Good to see the young man finally get onto the court. He received a warm welcome from our fans. He obviously isn't in game shape yet, but he showed some smarts in effectively blocking out on rebounds and putting the ball up when he got it without putting it on the floor where the little guys can steal it. He did force someone to alter their shot. He doesn't have to be a jumper to be effective on defense. Just his presence, with his hands up, will cause shorter players to have to alter their shots. If he can stay healthy, get into shape, I think he can be a good role player for us down the line. Remember, he has four years. And big men take longer to develop their coordination.04-cheers

I was watching the final minutes of the game on Trojan Tracker last night and he looked huge out there, a redwood among the pines.

Good size young man. Needs to develop better balance and a little quicker feet, but has good soft hands.04-cheers

I have my own nickname for Poulter: "Pou-Pou"(po-po); not to be mistaken with what we call the police in the South: Po-Po.

I still think that if the fundamentals are there, he is worth the investment. Solid big men at our level are rare, and if we get one or two years out of him when he pays dividends, it is worth the risk.

You just never know how a big man will turn out. Remember Big Country at Oklahoma State. He wasn't very good at first if I recall, but he turned out to be a solid College big man. Poulter has good hands and a good shooting touch. His quickness leaves something to be desired, but I have to remember he's playing on a foot that had surgery and hasn't had time to get into game shape. If he works hard, he could potentially show a lot of progress by tournament time. I know we're all rooting for him to succeed in a big way.04-cheers

Let's watch and see how long Poulter can continue shooting 100%.
