ECU strikes me as that team that plays to the level of their opponents. It's maddening. Hope you guys have blood pressure meds this season.

I think you are way off. Other than sleep walking during exam week against Mount Olive and one of their little Rudy throwing up 30 to keep them in the game, we've pretty much been playing at an very high level or even dominating most of the D1 teams the last 8 or 9 games since White has really been coming on. He was killing it in the UNCW game to but got in foul trouble or we probably win that one too.
Many of those games we've had 20 point leads or more in the 2nd half, started playing clock like we should at the 6 or 7 minute mark because the game was pretty much over let them put some window dressing on it, but we still won comfortably and those games were never in doubt. We also played at a very high level at both Duke and NC State as well. Those are both NCAA type teams (now Vanderberg is back) and it not like those teams played terribly or turned it over and let us hang around, they actually shot the ball good or even great and we still were in those games because we played that well.
McNeese 29 point win
UNCA won by 11, was a 20 point game in the 2nd
NC A&T won by 13, it was a 28 point game in the 2nd
VMI won by 9, it was a 18 point game in the 2nd
That's not playing to their level. We have played a very high level beyond them for multiple games this year especially of late now that White has come on.

Also Prince Williams has really killed it as well the last 7 games in this stretch.
13.7 ppg
3.7 rpg
3.6 apg
1.3 spg
28-46 (61%) FG's
40-46 (87%) FT's
We got two guys beyond Richmond and PRC that are really emerging as high level guys in this conference that can pick up the slack.

14.9 ppg
4.9 rpg
2.3 apg
32-57 (56%) FG
12-24 (50%) 3
26-41(64%) FT
These are too guys that have really emerged the last half of this season. These guys have essentially been our interior offense.

We are in the conversation. That's the only point I've made. I don't think people really get just how dynamic our offense is. Williams and White are two 6-5 and 6-7 match up nightmares because one is a PG who takes it to the basket and scores over smaller or less athletic guards and the other is a 6-7 guy being guarded by PF that can shoot it from the outside if they don't guard him or blow by the bigger PF's. They are two of the most athletic guys I have ever seen at ECU as well and they got enough size and athletic ability to guard PF's and SF's decently as well and are great ball handlers at their size. You got to admit they have really been emerging the last half of this season. We got a lot a lot of talent and guys that can pick up the slack if Richmond or PRC are off. Even Zangari threw up 17 points in 14 minutes a couple games ago and has been effective for his minutes.

I agree. ECU is definitely in the top half of the league this year and will compete for the regular season and tourney titles.

I agree too. Like I said in earlier posts, I'm not certain they'll compete for the regular season title (they could, I just personally don't think they will), but they certainly have a team that could win the CUSA tournament if all their players are shooting at a high level. They have very capable shooters and as long as they can put together 3-4 games without any lulls, a CUSA tourney title could definitely happen.

RE: New C-USA basketball thread
I really think just about any top 250 team could get hot for 4 games and win this conference. That wouldn't really shock me. It's essentially a low major conference this year with no great teams, and you often times see losing teams come out of conferences playing at this level CUSA has this year.

WKU in the Belt the last couple of years as one example of a sub-par team that got hot at the right time.

Even Houston came out and got the autobid one year with about a .500 team in CUSA when it was a much better league and Memphis was still around. I'm just saying being a threat to win the CUSA tourny this year really isn't saying much. Just about all but a handful of teams could realistically get hot and go deep or win CUSA this year. There just doesn't appear to be a great team. Back when Memphis was here and playing on their homecourt most years there was just about no chance of it happening.

I disagree. USM, ECU, La Tech, UAB, Charlotte, UTEP-maybe MTSU and Marshall. Those are the teams that can win our conference tournament. Anybody can win a game or two, but based off of what I've seen I'd be shocked if any other team even made it to the finals.

Many of these I only saw the final score. You left off the UNCW game, which I think you all had no business losing.

Wins. Only Southern Miss has more. Decry the competition if you want but wins are wins.

I don't think wins necessarily mean you will compete for a conference title. You have to look at competition and how a team has played against said competition.
That said, I would put ECU in the Top 7 of CUSA and thus have a chance to win the conference. If you ask me to give you odds on ECU winning CUSA I would put it at 50-1.
If you say wins are wins I will grant you that. I will also tell you ECU has never won CUSA either so that has to mean something to right?

RE: New C-USA basketball thread
ECU is a very difficult team to judge at the moment. RPI's are still very much in flux so it's really difficult to gauge much.
At the moment ECU is 6-3 against Div 1 programs. Of the six wins, the best current RPI is UNCA (186). The other wins were against 301, 245, 273, 302, 221. The three losses were to rpi's of 46, 81, and 121. ECU's current rpi is 155 so they've beaten who they should and lost to who they should. BTW, I was using realtime.com rpi's. I'm sure others would be different.

Charlotte is the only current CUSA that has ever won the tournament. That doesn't mean they'll win it this year.

It's apples and oranges when you compare a team like UTEP's schedule and ECU's to this point though. I'm not saying UTEP is a better team, but I'm not saying they aren't either. Wins only mean so much if you are playing significantly inferior opponents.
