No surprises, all deserving choices in my opinion.

Well, make that one surprise - who is Randy Swift? He's not even listed on the roster...

When your center makes offensive MVP, it does not say much about the skill positions. Great honor for that young man

I agree. Some high expectations were not met this year. I wish we could have seen a healthy Flu all year. He surpassed expectations, despite his injuries.

Yep. Flu has truly been "Toledo Tough", both this season and last. It is a shame that he missed so many games in his Rocket career due to injuries...and I suspect that he played in more than a couple where he was less than 75%.

The video that was played at the banquet. Very special feeling about the future, and a positive (although pissed off) attitude by the young guys. Not making a bowl may be what we needed to improve and move forward with the program. (Sounds dumb, but I think we seriously have a chip on our shoulder)

I agree with this. It'll show all the players that nothing is guaranteed. Don't leave or destiny in someone else's hands.

I am not as concerned about the impact on the players as I am about the impact on the coaching staff. I am guessing that the players will take their cues from the coaching staff so I think that if the coaches have the right attitude and the right mind set, the players will follow.

What I would like to see is the coaching staff adopt a more aggressive "take no prisoners" mentality and see more of an all out attack philosophy on both sides of the ball rather than always being too cautious and predictable or playing not to lose and always trying to "play it safe"----I am not advocating throwing all caution to the wind---there is a time for caution but there is also a time to be bold----for example, why not let D-backs try to play the ball even if they occasionally get burned; forget rushing 3 and dropping 8 into pass coverage to try to protect a lead; have enough different blitz packages in the playbook such that if one doesn't work there are others to try. When planning the strategy for each upcoming game, be equally concerned about playing to your team's strengths rather than putting all your effort on trying to avoid the opponents strengths.

I would like to see the foot never taken off the gas---attack, attack and attack----if there is a worry about RUTS, simply put in subs, but keep the pedal to the floor and let them play. I don't claim to have any vast coaching knowledge regarding x's and o's, but this is the kind philosophy that I would like to see adopted. However, I not going to hold my breath waiting for it because coaches who take chances are criticized a lot more than those who always play it safe.

I love Rocket football.

I'm dying to see a consistent champion caliber team in the Glass Bowl.

And protecting our home turf has got to become important again.

We HAVE seen this. Every other year NIU visits the GB. Doesn't get much more consistent than that.

N-I-WHO??
That team we've completely dominated since 1990?
Our wins streak must be up to 23 straight by now....

Well, there is the 2013 MAC Champion losing to the Rockets every year, for that last four. That's right up there in the area of consistency.

I think you're mistaking the 23 straight to be years without a conference title...

JK, but in the last ten years, it's been quite the games, IMPORTANT games.

Congrats to the players on their awards, very deserving. I think Toledo is still a few years away. Until Campbell is more of an in-game coach and developer of talent, it will just be unrealized expectations.

Have to put the players in positions to be successful, I don't think that happened the past few years.

IMO, the Rockets were in positions to be successful. Starting with the Florida game, the defense stepped up and played well. It was the offense that failed to generate consistency. The Rockets trailed Mizzou by a single point and had the momentum before the Tigers regained it with a huge turnover and ball control. The Ball State loss, in large part, was due to two fumbles (neither forced by the Cards) and ten team penalties - BSU have just one penalty the entire game. The Rockets were in control of the NIU game until someone poked Lynch and the NIU defense with a sharp stick. The Rockets controlled their own destiny and certainly were in position to be successful. Pass defense failed too many times against Akron.

There is a ton of talent on this team. We'll see how the coaches and players treat the off season and respond next year.

I agree.IMO, there are a number of Rockets that will get their chance to play on Sunday. The RB Flu, he's as good as that Morris with the Redskins. You have 2 or 3 of OLine who will get contracts for sure, the D has athletes I don't remember who but I saw athletic guys and the WRs more potential there.

UT has players. QB was just too conservative this year.

All those what ifs are precisely what I mean.

They have been close but no cigar. If the talent is there, which to me is more of an argument than people might want to admit isn't quite what many Rocket fans may think it is.

If they have the talent, it's something with scheme, mental toughness, etc. on why they aren't being successful. That all points directly back at the coach.

What was frustrating for me was that it didn't seem like we learned from our mistakes. The same things that shot us in the foot at the beginning of the season, still popped up at the end of the season.

Until we learn how to score TD's in the red zone and not kick chip shots we will see the same results. We also need someone to teach to turn around to the ball to our DB's and Safety's

I think UT dominated NIU for consecutive wins from 1990 until about 2006 or 2007. After that I stopped paying attention to this game for lack of competition and simply assumed the streak must be up around 23 by now.
