Heisman finalists announced at 5 PM
Anyone think Lynch is named a finalist?

One minute I think yes, the next I think no...

I feel like no one else would leap frog him. Unless people just want McCarron there or the RB for Auburn had a monster game Tre Mason

Are all finalists announced tonight? Including the Thorpe for Jimmie Ward?

I think he deserves it. I give him a 15-20% chance of getting invited.

It would still be nice, but I doubt it.

My guess would be Winston... Tre Mason, Johnny Manziel, and maybe Andre Williams finish above him and get invited. After Winston, it's going to be a big cluster-**** of guys behind him.

A mid-major QB candidate with 1 loss, getting into the heisman 'invite' talk would be as surprising as the orange bowl bid last year. I feel like the voters will just find a way to reason not to invite Lynch now.

Houston qb a couple years ago got an invite with a similar situation. Undefeated but lost conf championship game.

Tre mason might be the guy that keeps lynch home.

I'm holding out hope that the Heisman Commitee finds JL to be a "great story"...a kid without "baggage"...certainly exemplifying what the "Heisman" represents.......and invites him.

Herbstreit tweeted yesterday that Tre Mason would be on his ballot and that he expects him to get an invite to NYC

Yeah, for everyone that just woke up to Tre Mason, he deserves it. No question about it. On my imaginary ballot, I'd probably go...
1 Winston
2 Mason
And I'd have to reallllllllllly think about...
3 Petty
3 Lynch (MAC)
3 Williams (ACC, bleh)

Heck, I'd even consider putting Mason at #1. For what he did, specifically in his SEC games (I just don't think much about the ACC), he has some silly stats.

I think Lynch goes. It just seems to me that Mason was only "discovered" this week and a lot of ballots went in before the championship weekend and I'm sure not many had Mason on it. I think 4-5 go and Lynch will be one of them. I think Lynch finishes 2nd or 3rd. He will be on a lot of ballots.

I would agree, but now that electors vote exclusively online, I'm not sure that it's safe to assume that many/a lot of ballots were in before this past weekend.

It was interesting to learn on BCS / ESPN Selection Sunday that Holtz had already cast his ballot awhile ago,

Maybe a few early votes of the 800+ to be cast during Winston investigation helped Lynch.

Hope I am wrong on this perspective but I think he played himself out of top five.

ONE freaking game played Lynch out of an invite to New York? If so it's total bullsht. He set records last year and broke them this year. Had an outstanding amazing year....he deserves to get the invite.

Lil Johnny football went down in flames & is not getting an invitation this year for sure.

I don't think a freshman should even be eligible for the Heisman...and I still don't think Mr. Winston is any angel.

Holtz was just compensating for the week he thought it would take to turn on his computer and remember his passwords.

Lynch still had a fantastic year, and I don't think HE necessarily played himself out of anything. Could he have played better on Friday? Yes. But, the team not winning is what ultimately will have played him out of an invite (should he not get one); and that is far from his fault.

I say he goes, he has the numbers, his name really got out there the 2nd half of the season. Anyone confirm he was sick for the MACC?

Random tweet I saw today.

Kevin McGuire ‏@KevinOnCFB
Heisman Trophy finalists announced today at 6pm eastern. I’m going to guess three get named. Winston, Lynch and pick a random name.
