I get what you are saying but it is strictly business from the bowl games. They are looking at who will sell tickets, put people in hotels, and have folks eating at local restaurants. If they could get away with putting a team with no wins in the game, they would as long as it made them the most money. This isn't the NC game where folks are arguing over records and strength of schedule. This is about making cash for the bowl and keeping the city happy so they will continue to provide support. Hell, even the other BCS games are looking at which ranked team is going to give them the biggest bang for the buck. Let Auburn or Missouri end up in the Sugar. I guarantee you that the Orange is going to jump all over Alabama because they know they are going to be stuck with a crappy opponent (probably NIU) and they know Bama will sell tickets and people will tune in.

Why not? I say, go for it.

Hey, I'm just glad we have an AD that is working the phones and doing everything possible to get a bowl bid. That's the first time in a while we have had administration that is forward thinking and aggressive. He is the real deal.

Also, everyone knows that if the Cajuns reach 6-6 and that champ can be placed somewhere they are going to New Orleans regardless of their record. You know you'd take it to if it came to you. Being close to Shreveport and having lot of alums there is our advantage.

All very valid points. We all know that we would say that we don't think that someone else should get into a bowl game at xyz record when we all damn well know we would be pimping ourselves out to try and get into a bowl if in the same situation. I'm looking forward to watching my Cajuns restart a new winning streak against ULM next year up in Monroe. Cheers my friend 04-cheers

I can see I am going to have to get used to this type of "competition" for bowl games at the FBS level. As long as there are more SBC teams thatn available bowl slots I guess every year about this time we will see conference members turn on each other.

I don't think it mattered that much to us 'cause you weren't the only school in the mix. You're just one less of the bunch now.

RE: Really ULM?
I was among the first to start a thread congratulating ULM on their victor over the Cajuns. I never call them Hoax, JUCO etc.... I remember one year when Troy was really good they took out ad space in a paper I want to say in California and it worked! They got into that bowl. The difference between that and this is that Troy had a really great team with a good record. I have no idea how much it costs to put up a billboard but for a team on such a tight budget, with little to no chance of success I think is dumb. They couldn't afford to room and board their team before the Indy Bowl last year! Someone will say they packed the place with 40,000 fans but that is lie. Sure the casinos and business in Shreveport bought thousands of tickets be there were no more than 20,000 miserable looking people dressed in everything from camo, LSU gear and ULM gear. It was one of the most pathetic bowls I can remember. I was pulling for ULM but they made Ohio look like Ohio State. Unless the Indy Bowl is faced with having to accept two MAC teams, ULM wouldn't be very attractive. Good luck ULM but I think it is like peeing in the wind. Plus you just gave the Techies something to do leading up to the bowl season.

I was there and yes our team didn't preform but we packed our side of the stadium m. Ohio brought maybe 500 fans and their band. Our new AD would have never allowed that housing the football team debacle. It wouldn't have been that hard to raise the funds to keep them on campus. Our record also is not a testament of the ability this team has to preform. The only reason we are being considered is because the I Bowl was impressed with our turnout last year.

I don't disagree with your 20,000 plus fans. I doubt if Ohio even brought that. I found the not being able to house your team unbelievable. Surely a rich alumni would have put the boys up. ULM would bring more than any mid major school but unless I'm mistaken, the Indy Bowl has some BCS schools to pick from. I have no idea how much billboards cost. If it isn't much hey it's a little pathetic but worth a shot. I remember one year we were 6-6 and thought we were a sure in with the Indy Bowl but that didn't happen. Good luck on you gamble.
