The Biggest Game of the Football Season Again
Mid-American Conference Championship against Bowling Green.

None of these have ever been easy.

Let's hope we don't have any repeats of heartbreak endings like 05 and 10. Also remember Ball State was undefeated and lost the macc and their bowl game in 08.

RE: The Biggest Game of the Football Season Again
We seem to be more worried about our possible matchup in the BCS than we do about the MCC. We do not like it when BCS fans look past the our matchup with their team. Bowling Green is not a pushover and deserves respect. They will be jacked for this game. Let's win the MCC first.

Exactly--Stop the talk about who our bcs opponent will be for now. BG will be jacked up and previous history in the macc says we always struggle.

Yes because what we talk about on a message board affects the team.

You two are dense.

RE: The Biggest Game of the Football Season Again
I would love to see the HUSKIES control this game from start to finish. History over the past 4 has been a challenge to the end. Last second pass and catch to loose against Akron, the famous 4th and long deflection and reception. Then our two wins have gone the wire, with the OT win last year.

I still have a bad taste still fron the 2003 season where a ranked BG handed us our first loss after being as high as 10 in the BCS.

Wasn't that converted 4th and long deflection against Miami Ohio?

Yea the MACC games have all been down to the wire, I sure would like to see one that was easier on the heart! In any event have to expect a close and hard fought game, these guys have been there before and that could be the difference.

RE: The Biggest Game of the Football Season Again
I think the BCS talk is big because that's what the nation's talking about... and under the assumption that NIU will beat BGSU because BGSU is just a MAC team with a winning record. And due to the Fresno loss excitement, it's understood for everyone to look forward to the BCS.

However, BGSU is a TOUGH team. 3rd best team NIU will face this year so far, and not far behind the 2nd best.

BGSU Stats:
BG Points: 389
Opp Points: 158

BG 1st Downs: 262
Opp 1st Downs: 176

BG Yards Per Rush: 4.9
Opp Yards Per Rush: 4.4

BG Passing: 202/318 (63.5%), 256.6 Yards, 19 TD, 6 INT
Opp Passing: 177/315 (56.2%), 156.4 Yards, 10 TD, 5 INT

BG Yards Per Game: 461.7
Opp Yards Per Game: 302.1

BG Rush, Pass TD: 27, 19
Opp Rush, Pass TD: 11, 10

BG Turnovers: 8 (0.667/game)
Opp Turnovers: 17 (1.42/game)

SCOREBOARD (1,2,3,4 Q):
Bowling Green: +14, +81, +100, +36

NIU STATS:
NIU Points: 514
Opp Points: 283

NIU 1st Downs: 317
Opp 1st Downs: 283

NIU Yards Per Rush: 6.7
Opp Yards Per Rush: 3.8

NIU Passing: 220/343 (64.1%), 223.4 Yards, 27 TD, 5 INT
Opp Passing: 241/460 (52.4%), 263.8 Yards, 21 TD, 17 INT

NIU Yards Per Game: 542.3
Opp Yards Per Game: 411.4

NIU Rush, Pass TD: 36, 27
Opp Rush, Pass TD: 12, 21

NIU Turnovers: 13 (1.08/game)
Opp Turnovers: 27 (2.25/game)

SCOREBOARD (1,2,3,4 Q):
Northern Illinois: +21, +62, +78, +70

Last 5 games in Detroit have gone down to the wire.
Here is a chance to make a statement win with style points against an excellent team.
Is this not the best NIU FB team to goto Detroit?

BG is 27th in Total Offense, 32nd in Scoring Offense, 7th in Total Defense and 5th in Scoring Defense.
NIU is 4th in Total Offense, 9th in Scoring Offense, 73rd in Total Defense, 39th in Scoring Defense.

Should be another close one.

1. Not sure why you're bolding the criteria you are.
2. BG is tough, but they aren't the 3rd best opponent NIU has played
3. Everyone talks about BGs D, but they give up more yards per rush and more completions. Also, NIU gave up fewer points to Toledo On THE ROAD.

I believe so. I was sitting in the seat nearest to the player who caught it...it was so painful. So, so, so painful. Let's never do that again.
