Jerry Glandville has applied for the Head Football Coaching positition at Eastern Michigan.03-drunk

I think he would be a "hoot" if he were the coach at Toledo. 05-stirthepot

Maybe if he gets the job, he can leave some tickets at Will Call for Elvis. Anything to try to boost attendance.

You know it wasnt that long ago that the Northern Illinois job was right up there as one of the worst, look now!

True, but Northern Illinois doesn't have to bump heads with Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois for players who want to play (by definition) I-A football. And EMU has big time I-A football just 75 miles down the road in East Lansing, while NIU has no such local threat.

This might be more effective for EMU if today's recruits were alive during his NFL coaching tenure...

I think that EMU needs to look to a proven head coach from NCAA Division II or FCS. Someone that has shown that they can win at the level they were suppose to win. Akron kind of lucked out with Bowden but I am not so sure he is capable of doing much there either.

Some places just have a hard time being good for a variety of reasons. EMU and Akron have been on the skids for years. I am only guessing at this but I would guess that combined, those two have had a combined 3 winning seasons since 1998. This is no accident.

Get someone that can develop talent and manage a staff of go-getters.

One of the major problems at Eastern is the location, Toledo plays second fiddle to O$U and UM in the media and fans from a distance, can't imagine being on the doorstep

And, of course, by "75 miles down the road in East Lansing" you mean 35 south in Toledo, right?
