Rivalries you would like to see.....
For me:

arizona-hawaii: it might be a bit one sided however these two states share a pearl harbor connection and it would be pretty cool to see them make a trophy game using one of the USS arizona bells as the trophy

air force-colorado: two teams that are located just 1.5 hours from each other and yet havent played since 1974. they both have a yearly series with CSU and they could make a yearly governors cup out of it.

RE: Rivalries you would like to see.....
UConn has that 1% chance of getting a Big 10 invitation. I guess a UConn-Rutgers rivalry in the Big 10 would be fun.

If that never happens, I'm happy in the AAC (#6 in FB and #3 in BB as of right now) although there is no natural rival for UConn.

Ohio State (Meyer) vs Alabama (Saban)

They both eschew tough OOC games if they can.

SYRACUSE
FOOTBALL
Syracuse - Northwestern (T* - Prose Bowl) - B1G
Syracuse - Penn State (T*) - B1G
Syracuse - Maryland - B1G
Syracuse - Notre Dame - Ind./ACC
Syracuse - Boston College (T*) - ACC
Syracuse - Pitt - ACC
Syracuse - WVU (T - Schwartzwalter Trophy) - Big XII
Syracuse - Army - Ind.
Syracuse - Colgate (FCS scrub game of interest) - Not sure
Syracuse - Cornell (FCS scrub game of interest) - IVY
Syracuse - Rutgers (see note below) - B1G
Syracuse - Miami (rivalry isn't the right word, but this is a game of interest to most 'Cuse fans) - (ACC
Syracuse - Michigan - B1G <-- Not a ton of history between the two schools, but I would really like to see the Orange play the Big Blue.

BASKETBALL
Syracuse - Georgetown (T*) - BIG EAST
Syracuse - Villanova - BIG EAST
Syracuse - Saint John's (T*) - BIG EAST
Syracuse - UCONN (T*) - AAC
Syracuse - Boston College - ACC
Syracuse - Pitt - ACC
Syracuse - Maryland - B1G
Syracuse - Indiana (we haven't plays a lot, but the games have mattered) - B1G
Syracuse - Duke - ACC
Syracuse - UNC - ACC
Syracuse - Marquette (rivalry is too strong a word, but it is a game of interest) - BIG EAST
Syracuse - Temple (rivalry is too strong a word, but it is a game of interest) - AAC
Syracuse - Cornell (scrub game of interest) - IVY
Syracuse - Colgate (scrub game of interest) - Not sure
Syracuse - Rutgers (see note below) - B1G
Syracuse - Michigan B1G <-- (See football description)

LACROSSE
Syracuse - John Hopkins (T*) - B1G
Syracuse - UVA (T*) - ACC
Syracuse - Princeton - IVY
Syracuse - Cornell (T*) - IVY
Syracuse - Army - Ind.
Syracuse - Maryland - B1G
Syracuse - Denver (purely because of Denver's coach) - BIG EAST
Syracuse - Duke - ACC
Syracuse - UNC - ACC
Syracuse - Rutgers (see note below) - B1G

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Syracuse - UCONN (AAC)
Syracuse - Rutgers (B1G)
Syracuse - Maryland (B1G)
Syracuse - Penn State (B1G)
Syracuse - Georgetown (BIG EAST)
Syracuse - UNC (ACC)
Syracuse - Duke (ACC)

WOMENS LACROSSE
Syracuse - Northwestern - B1G
Syracuse - Maryland - B1G
Syracuse - UVA - ACC
Syracuse - Georgetown - BIG EAST

FIELD HOCKEY
Syracuse - UCONN (AAC)
Syracuse - Georgetown (BIG EAST)

"T" indicates that it's a trophy game.
"T*" indicates that it should be a trophy game

**I don't really see RU as a rival, but I do like playing RU because I like games near the city and I guess we have history together**

(EDIT: Actually, alternate Cornell and Colgate so that we only play one a year and throw in Miami (FL), Tulane/Temple, and Rutgers/UCONN and you have my ideal football schedule)
(EDIT X2: Give me home and homes with the top 10 basketball games in addition to the yearly regional games of interest, a bunch of local scrubs, and about 2 BCS schools with decent programs, and I would be happy with that schedule, too)

For historical purposes, I'd like to see Rutgers-Princeton every five years on the years that end with 4 or 9.

Cal - Fresno State.....

Cal represents the elite. Fresno represents blue collar. Cal liberal versus Fresno conservative. Cal the privileged versus Fresno the hard scrabble.

One of the USS Arizona's bells is in University of Arizona Student Union Memorial Center bell tower. The other is in the USS Arizona Memorial visitor center. Neither will ever leave its current location. Personally, I don't think using any artifact from the ship as a trophy for a football game is appropriate.

AF and CU was intended to be a major rivalry. AF canceled the series because the CU students couldn't act like adults. I don't see them ever playing again, except in a bowl game.

I would like to see the Oklahoma/Nebraska rivalry renewed in football.

I would like to see a rivalry built up between Indiana and Kansas for basketball.

Boston College is the perfect rival for UConn. Trouble is, they hate each other TOO MUCH to play.

3 of those teams are ACC; none of them are Big XII. Time for Kansas to the ACC rumors maybe?

Arkansas vs. Oklahoma. We have been playing each other a lot in recent years. But have yet to play in football.

Arkansas vs Memphis in basketball. That use to be a great game to watch.

Arkansas vs Arizona and Arizona st. in baseball. Both programs are solid programs.

Good point, Mark. IMO, a good rivalry has the unique balance of hate with underlying and less obvious respect. All great rivalries have them, be it Red Sox - Yankees, Ohio State - Michigan, or BC - BU (hockey).

There is absolutely no underlying respect between BC and Uconn ( the one thing I think both BC and Uconn fans can agree on, ironically) which is why, other than the odd game here or there (next week in BB, at that tournament in NYC, for example), a rivalry between the two schools is unlikely to ever develop.

In the year 2070, a UConn fan and a BC fan will be sitting together on a cold November day, watching their teams play a FB game. One will ask, "Why did it take so long for this to happen?". The other one will just shrug and have no answer.

But I'll be dead.

The bell from the Arizona was rescued from a scrap yard melt list by a survivor of the ship's bombing who gave it to the University for preservation. The scrap yard would have been a desecration, the school bearing its name is a remembrance and much more appropriate.
