Post-BCS Question
Starting next year one fortunate member of the G5 will get an automatic bid to one of the Big Bowls.

Question: How is it determined? By the same selection committee as for the Final Football Four, or some other means entirely?

The highest-rated champion from the "Group of Five" conferences -- the Big East (AAC), Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt and Mid-American -- will receive an automatic berth in one of the six access bowls.

Since there will no longer be BCS rankings, how will "highest -rated" be determined?

Apparently Condoleeza Rice will pick a team as the top one.

It would be our dumb luck if Pat Dye were the decider.

It seems likely to be the same ratings system agreed to by the Go5 for determining the strength of conference part of the payout.

RE: Post-BCS Question
The same committee of 13 that selects the four playoffs will select the non-AQ team from among the MAC, MWC, Conference USA, and the Sun Belt. They also will decide who and where they will play in the bowl game to optimize match ups in the bowls that are part of the playoffs.

RE: Post-BCS Question
Problem is they would pick fresno or UCF this year eventhough NIU, BSU and Tole_o have better teams, at least at 16 or even 8 we would have 1 team to represent the MAC.

RE: Post-BCS Question
Make a 10 team playoff featuring ever conference champ: 7th seeds plays 10 and 8 plays 9 for the play-in games. You win your conference, otherwise you don't deserve to be called the best team in college football.

RE: Post-BCS Question
What if your in the SEC and your best player misses championship game due to injury. You could very well be the best team, and not win the SEC. just sayin

FCS is expanding to 24 teams this year. There are first round byes, automatic bids and they just run it how it should be. FBS needs to follow a similar model. Throw in a few bowl games on the side for teams that aren't top 24, everyone is happy.

But we know that the Power5 won't stand for that, so more likely is an eight team playoff with the Power5 champs, a best of Go5 team for legal cover, and two at-large picks.
