From the outside looking in and knowing a few die hard State fans, it's hard for me to grasp anything is more important to either State of Ole Miss than the egg bowl.

State lost to Bammer from 1981-1995. It was not a Super Bowl, nor huge rivalry. 82 mi between Starkville and Tuscaloosa. THEY called it Tuscaloosa West and rightly so for years. Sherrill brought glory back and we beat Bammer in '96. There were other wins later on, but it was no where near the Bammer teams of today.
It pains folks to see the Egg Bowl trophy proudly displayed at the rival school for an entire year or longer.
