If you were to ask me today, I would take the points for the Bulldogs. This will be Hennigan's first game in a loud environment. Two new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Offensive line may be at questioned to start (they did lose a four year starter in Parham), there are still question marks at the receiver core. Somebody will have to step and be the #1 receiver.
Factor that with them losing JJ Russell on defense, who racked up 100+ tackles last year.

As weird as this sounds, I don't think this team will be ready to play in Starkville.

Hate to say it, but I agree.

And, IMO, at RB

I think we are stacked at RB. Brandon Thomas was great last year until he got injured. I love watching Dreke Clark run the dude is a freight train. Asa Martin really started to catch fire in the last few games. And now there is also Jay Ducker.

need the o-line to allow the guys to get out and make plays.

Last season every defense was stacking the box because they wanted to force our True Fresh QB to throw the ball. I think they will be less likely to do that this year.

hopefully we have 2 receivers that demand similar coverage as Austin did. Beside Calvin, we didn't pose much of a long ball threat, which allowed them for focus more on run defense for sure

Bet the house and the 401k and the kitchen sink!

Team should come out ready to play because they AND the coach have a lot to prove this year.

Don't see them winning this one but don't expect a 2+ TD blowout loss either. If MSU covers the program is in big trouble.

Tigers played THIRTY FIVE FRESHMEN last year…..and with (1) a lick of defense or (2) defensive coaching

Hate to say it, but I agree.

Tigers played THIRTY FIVE FRESHMEN last year

With (1) a hint of defense or (2) a hint of defensive coaching, we could/should have been 9-3…..even with Henigan sitting out UCF

We played ahead of MS St the whole game AND played “4-corner” after Austin’s punt return

Remember Henigan….ALL AMERICAN freshman QB?

It will be close and we’ve proven to opportunistic still

Don’t get the doom and gloom

Thomas played well until Ruin told him to start running with two hands on the ball---he lost speed and elusiveness

they will be re-shuffling their OL as we will be. (lost a couple of guys. 1 transfer...1 deciding to go pro)
They lost 3 WRs to transfer...so they are rebuilding in that area too. (Our WR corps added a transfer from Iowa State, will be returning some speed...so we SHOULD be okay there)
Also lost some defensive players...who did not care for last season's defensive packages...so this game with MisStake will hinge on which school can reload faster.

The area of most concern for me is the O Line again. If we can get a decent O Line together...we could win 7 or 8 games, at the least.
Will also be interested in seeing how we fare under our new defensive coordinator.
Line holding at 16 was hoping for more points but got my bet down this evening. Always good to start the season in the black. BTW Rice is getting 35 against USC, still don't understand why Aresco pushed for them to be in the conference. Poor Tulane is having to give up 29.5 against U Mass. Doubt if even the most devoted Wave fan will touch that, although they will probably cover.

how many of those 6 losses last year were due to turnovers? In the 4th against UTSA we fumbled twice once on our 7 and once on their 19.

Only if you mean everyone returned [not always a good thing] plus we signed a small and slow new guy from a MAC school.

Sad to say, I see more of the same.

Were you at practice? You have a lot of info what he tells players.
By game week the line will not be 16!!!

Realistically, the line probably should b -6 to -9 State. Seems as if both teams are evenly matched so the team that execuates better wins the game.
MS State has traditionally been notorious in slowly starting the season (including dropping or almost dropping games against FCS opponents). It would be a tough win on the road, but this is a game you want to come at the start of the season rather than the middle of it

Ouch.
Truth or hyperbole?
I knew our road record was not great, but had no idea.
it's been a long time since we won in Starkvegas...that would be a great way to start the season.

Have lost six in a row there
Last win in 1993
Of course we don’t play there every other year

Prior to the six in a row Memphis won something like 4/6 down there

This will be their Super Bowl so our kids need to be prepared
