Why on earth is CUSA sending teams to opposite division schools on Easter weekend?

With all we’ve witnessed over the past seven months concerning CUSA decision making, what would make you think they’d make a sensible decision?

Because CUSA.

I was mildly surprised because usually the conference lets the coaches decide scheduling stuff on Easter Weekend. The SBC used to go through this for years where we played on Easter all the time, and when we finally moved off it was made clear the coaches voted to switch to the Thursday-Saturday vs Geographic Rival system.

Of course, It's naive of me to assume CUSA would let their schools pick stuff like that.
To be somewhat fair CUSA doesn’t have baseball divisions this year. But UAB and LaTech are closer than a flight to FIU for us and would make more sense to play this weekend.

But it’s also our second weekend in a row requiring a flight to go on the road, and we play 10 conference series. We play back to back weekends at home in May. Not setting it up so everyone alternates home and away for each conference weekend makes no sense.

CUSA gonna CUSA.
Time to sweep the Mavs over to the WAC
This week is what’s known as it won’t surprise me no matter what happens.
USA sweeps Troy? Yeah it could happen.
USA wins the series 2-1? Yeah it could happen.
Troy wins the series 2-1? Yeah it could happen.
Troy sweeps USA? Yeah it could happen.
A brawl breaks out? Yeah it could happen.
Only 1 or 2 games get played? Yeah it could happen.
A player batting .100 on the season goes 14 of 15 with 12 RBIs? Yeah it could happen.
One team sweeps the other only to lose to the other in the SBC Tournament? Yeah it could happen.

This is one of those series where you aren’t surprised no matter what happens. Go Jags!

I know some travel Soccer teams that are doing tournaments this weekend as well.

Travel teams in youth sports are serious business. I know a kid who was kicked off his travel ball team because they held a tournament on Mothers Day, and his parents wanted him to spend it with aging grandparents instead.
The streak might just end tonight. AState leads UALR 4-1 in the 7th inning
UL is 30-2 vs ULM the last 10 years looks like it will be 31-2 tonight

That's crazy. And ya, it gets intense. My son wants to play travel with some of his frienss but we're keeping him in Pony and on the select team for now. If he still wants to play when he's 11 or 12 we will make the jump. But he's having fun and still playing some better kids without all the stress and huge commitment.
ODU takes the opener tonight at UAB 13-2. Teams play a doubleheader tomorrow.
Eagles take game 1 4-2

The streak doesn't want to go down without a fight. UALR scores 3 with 2 outs in the 8th to cut it to a 5-4 AState lead, heading to the 9th.

3 outs from ending the streak.
Golden Eagles take Game 1 from FIU, 5-3.
