Spare me the obvious answer, but opinions welcome. lol On another note: I wouldn't take Minott out unless he begged to come out then after a couple of deep breaths send him right back in. I Minott take him out at all. pun intended...That guy is awesome.

I suspect working Bates back into the lineup will create yet another obstacle for this mentally fragile team.

Or it could work miracles.
Bates needs to play ... He's a damn good basketball player. Playing him, Duren and Minott together could be magic. If he's ready ... Play him.
If Penny will just slow the offense down where it’s a little controlled these point guards will perform better. We slowed it down for the NIt and won it.

Bates will be a tremendous player, he has already shown signs of that yet his youth and size were exposed in a stretch of games

It happens

Hope he can get more minutes and be in position to help late this season and possibly be our best player next year.

Never say never but I wouldn't count on him coming back where next season.

It might be better to quantify that as "if the season ended today".

I would agree if it ended today, but we will see how the year plays out. Needless to say the situation is fluid. Lets see how things go when he returns.

I think today is a perfect example of how quickly things can begin to change.
The Bates who played today is a difference maker.

Today was a huge step forward for Bates. Like the announcer said, the less he tries to do the better he can be. I loved his effort today on defense too. He was out there playing with and for his brothers. I saw you Emoni and appreciated your efforts!

He played today like a player who figured out that playing hard and filling a role while winning is a lot more fun that “being the man” and losing.

He looked fantastic today. Letting the offense come to him, hustling his ass off after loose balls, defense and he had a few man rebounds as well.

So which one is it?

That's why it's silly to say we aren't missing Bates.
Seems his break and observing the game may have helped.
Now we need him.

About 10 minutes of Lomax today would have blown it open.

The young man stepped up today and I gave him credit due for playing his best game of the year. You have issue with that?
That is as easy as saying.. 10 minutes of Lomax today and we would have lost.

Nah. You could tell a couple of periods where the offense stalled, or we needed stronger on-ball D. Lomax can do that when he plays within himself.

Problem is that we normally don't just get 10 minutes.
How soon we forget...FEB 6 2021 Lomax bringing us out of a slump--singlehandedly

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- — Alex Lomax tallied 10 points and 10 assists to carry Memphis to a 66-59 win over East Carolina on Saturday.

Not interested in debating about Alo. We won so who cares on a hypothetical.

I do disagree with the offense stalling, we put up 87 points tonight…

The reality is we dont need someone taking another 10 minutes. The Tigers played well today and that was without Williams. Whose minutes would have been taken today. If Lomax was in today how do we know Harris scores his 20. Probably doesn’t
