What was the attendance today. Maybe 20k?
Nah...it rained 3 days ago so most of the crowd is hanging out on the concourse.

What a dumb post.

It’s obviously not packed today because it’s TOO nice of a day. We needed some cloud cover. Of course then, the threat of rain would magically push people away.
I heard there were 30k hiding in the bathrooms tiday
Y’all are just the worst. Are you bitter you can’t come to the games or what?
Drove by the Stadium before the game and it seemed popping, tons of people. The view on TV (only caught 4th qtr), Stadium looked empty.
If some of you are under the impression "if they build it they will come" then you're probably gonna be disappointed with the attendance for the rest of the year. Even if we average our attendance from pervious years the stadium will look half empty. Not really sure why some are disappointed with the attendance anyways.
We are our own worst enemy
If it is any consolation, attendance seems to be down at a lot of schools outside of the ranked teams. There appeared to be about 5,000 fans at Duke today against Georgia Tech. A little rain there, but still looked terrible on television.

I'm not sure what else Mark Ingram can realistically do to get more fans in the seats. If UAB gets in the AAC, maybe the opponent name recognition will bring more people out, but then again, FAU should have been one of the bigger draws. Of the remaining AAC teams, Memphis, ECU, Navy, USF, and Temple all average around 30K to 40K at their home games. Maybe that means more visiting fans from those teams will help fill the stadium and attract more UAB fans if an AAC invite comes. As a side note, I was amazed that Liberty did not have many fans attend. They have like a gazillion on line students. You would think they would have a fan base spread all over the country.

Another issue that I see UAB having is the large number of people that will buy mid field season tickets to support the team and then not show up to the game. Georgia Tech has that issue. Whenever I watch a Georgia Tech home game, there are always lots of nice cushioned chair back seats that are empty at mid field. I cringe when I see all the empty mid field seats. I wish they would set up a system for people to go on line and indicate if they don't plan to attend. That would allow the school to set up a system for people to be automatically be upgraded, similar to airline seats for frequent fliers, and help fill the center of the stadium. It will at least help the look a little and may be an incentive for more people to buy season tickets (similar to encouraging people to join the frequent flier). Another option that may allow is for UAB to resell those premium seats for that particular game. It may not help attendance much, but would be a nice benefit to those that attend the game.

Of course the thing that will help fill seats the most is to just win and win against name recognition teams. UAB needs that signature win against a P5 team to help spark the interest again. Hopefully if an AAC invite comes, it will be more attractive for a P5 team to have a home and home or at least a two for one. If those are obtained, again, UAB needs to win.

Good luck and still a fan from afar.
Huge amount of fans left after the halftime for Band Day, they just want to see their kids play on the field and then leave after that.

I assume there was some type of high school band event at half time. If I were going to set up an event like that, I would have had all the bands perform combined together for the half time show and then let each band have a show after the game. That way the parents are committed for the whole game. Kind of sneaky, but whatever gets people to stay in the stadium.

I admittedly wasn’t there today because of a family function, and driving 4 hours there and back on back to back weekends didn’t sound like a good time, but I’m bitter about going to the game last week and seeing no progress from the past 3 seasons, namely, getting crushed by quality OOC teams. But I guess all is forgiven because we’re now one step closer to another piddly ass championship that won’t bring in casual fans.
People obsess over it too much.

Attendance is down literally everywhere, we're still in a pandemic, and we have an awful home schedule this year. We got blown out last week at home and looked horrible.

It is what it is. Homecoming in 2 weeks against Rice so come to the game. I'm really looking forward to it.

those piddly ass championships are a big reason we are the number one contender to move to the AAC.
Official attendance 25,191 from UABsports.com box score.

Yup. I feel like I went to clam bake today as the clam but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. Will say I have never seen so many people on a concourse during a football game. Some of it was the sun but also the place was just made for strolling as well as standing and watching.

It's a helluva stadium. Need some kind of scoreboard in the north endzone.
Hey we won guys!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we won, and it’s crazy that it’s almost just become “meh” for me that we win like 75% of our conference games, but we need either need better conference competition or notable OOC wins to move the needle. I will say today went better than I thought, probably because I overestimated FAU a little, but we once again have a very legitimate defense and I think Hopkins makes the offense average at worst, which is a nice change of pace.

I’d say investment in our programs and not terrible attendance probably has more to do with it.
