This is painful, but you all seem to think we should be competing well against all 4 and 5 star players -- you can see with your own eyes how much faster they are. And we're currently down at least 7 starters.

This is a pattern not a one-off.

People weren’t calling for Bill Clark’s head after a similar dismantling by UGA last week. Because he has a track record of success.

Perhaps this is a dumb comment, as I am sure that 4 and 5 star players most all are looking for a big pro payoff. They could get that if they went to Rice. But then they’d have to study. Something other than football. Nerds they are.
Really feel for the guys like Montero who have busted their butt for four years.
Brooks no gain!

Pass right. "Interception dropped by Nyakwol."

Brooks spins for 9 yards.

4th & 1 at Rice 19. Tempe! Card sneaks for two. 1st down.

1st & 10 at the 17: Brooks stood up! No gain!

2nd & 10: Trap play run ... "Brooks hits paydirt."

0-58.
TexasU has now covered the spread--twice over--and covered the over, all by itself.
UT going for it on 4th up 51.

Kinda sad.
Who the hell cares about the 4 and 5 star player stuff? Just today a Tulsa team that lost against UC DAVIS to start the year put a scare into freaking Ohio State, a team that is filled with 5 stars, for 3 quarters.
Line-drive kick to the goal line. Fresch runs to the 24.

Myers run up the middle gains 4.

Constantine sacked! "In the phone booth." Loses 5.

End of 3Q.

0-58

What a load of crap. There are lower recruited players all over the place who do well for other schools. That's such a loser mentality to say "waaaah they're too big and too fast." You design a system that places your players in the best possible position to succeed.

This clown tries to upgrade the talent, then jams the players into a system that cannot work at Rice. The 58 is bad - the 0 is on the head coach, and there's NO EXCUSE any more in Year 4 with a huge salary and big recruiting budget.
We could’ve beaten Arkansas and they have plenty of four stars.
3rd & 11 ... Constantine swing pass right ... complete to Montgomery ... but for only 5 yards.

Punt coming up. Grrr.
Since we were up 17-7 at Ark, we have been outscored 133-7.
Final 33 games of the "bad" coach David Bailiff: 7-26

First 33 games for Bloomgren: 7-26
Anyone got intel on how Jovani went from starter to 5th string?

As everyone saw last week, Horns are a long way from being anywhere in the zipcode of Georgia. This is another Alamo Bowl bound UT program. If they were actually in that Georgia conversation and Rice was UAB-like, more empathy and patience would be present.

Bloom can hide behind the injuries but I think anyone that has consistently watched this team knows it is much broader/deeper than that. Still September but right now this team could end-up taking the crown for the worst all-time Rice team.
56 yard punt ... returned 9 to the Texas 25.

1st down ... Pitch to Brooks ... Montero's back in ... makes the tackle. Only gains nothing!

2nd & 10: Brooks ... weaving his way up the middle .. to midfield. 25-yard gain. Sigh.

+1
1st down ... Brooks stiff-arms for 6 yards.

JP: "He should have lost a couple on that play."

2nd & 4: Brooks around left in for 5 yards ... 1st down. Sigh.

1st & 10 at the Rice 44: Watson now in ... "straight up the middle" for 11! Nate: "All their running backs have the same style: Stutter-step, stop, assess the defense ..."

1st & 10 at the Rice 28: Watson around right end for 4 yards.

2nd & 6: Watson around right end again ... for just 5.

3rd & 1: Texas time out ... "to save a penalty."

JP: "The last time the Owls were shut out: 3 years ago" by UAB 42-0.

The 1977 team went 1-10, but that 1 was against Idaho, then a non-D1 team. The rest of that season was a dumpster fire that included back to back games versus LSU (0-77) and Texas (15-72).
"Last time the Owls were shut out, 3 years ago against UAB" JP

If the University excuses this type of performance over this time period then our FB program is done.
JP: Since having the lead in the 3rd quarter of the Arkansas game, the Owls have been outscored 126-7.

3rd & 1 ... 9:04 left in the game ... Watson runs left for 6. 1st down at the 13. Sigh.

1st down: Watson runs right for 1.

2nd & 9: Watson "squeeze in between the guard and center" for 4.

3rd & 5: Watson up the middle. Stood up for just 1!

4th & 4: Watson hit behind the line! Owls get the football back.

0-58 ... 5:58 left in the game. Time to score, Owls!!
