Nearly 100% chance Stevens isn't taking it.
I really thought Archie would be successful there.

Its hard to give up that NBA money. Even if Stevens left Boston, he'd find another NBA coaching job pretty quick.

If they want a short term temporary fix, I'd say John Beilein.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thad Matta got a sniff.

It would be HILARIOUS if they swooped in and hired Pat Kelsey before X got their chance. But I don't know if the IU fanbase would accept another up and comer.
Would they be interested in Kelvin Sampson?

Kidding, of course.

Doesn't seem like a fit, but i would not be shocked if they interview Pat Kelsey.

It is a mystery why a program with the resources of IU has settled for anything less than a big name coach with immediate access to top level recruits.

Stevens' contract with the Celtics (6 years, $22,000,000) would put him at 14th in college basketball right now. Mick Cronin, Buzz Williams, Fred Hoiberg, and Larry Krystkowiak all make more than him in base salary (obviously I know there are additional endorsements and he doesn't have to recruit, but still, it wouldn't be financial).

Indiana was paying Archie $3,350,000 this year....Stevens makes $3,650,000.
So does Brannen pursue Logan Duncomb if he decommits?
IU people are getting tired of what they consider outsiders ruining their program. I know that for a fact. They're just like Michigan in that sense.

If they can't hit a big home run, they might go the 'Indiana man" route and no, not Steve Alford. I'm just spit balling here but they might pluck the Izzo tree and give Dane Fife a chance. He did decent as a head coach at IPFW.

Just maybe.

Because I have no idea who'd they be looking at right now that they couldn't have gotten when they took Archibald.

He just signed an extension in 2020. Terms have not be disclosed.

I'm told Dakich is saying today it should be Alford--that DD believes it should be a former player with an Indiana connection.

This may be a tough hire for IU; they may avoid some they consider as "young" with Miller's profile given that experience but the older coaches would be short term fixes and most have baggage.

Hoosier fans will take offense but that program is no longer mentioned with Duke, UNC, Kansas or Kentucky as an elite blue blood. Heck, it's not even close to what conference foes have done lately: the two MI schools, OSU, PU, UW, and IL. It will take a special coach to get that train back on the tracks.

You would have to assume considering how much he was going after him before that he'd be hopping on board quickly again.

I hope not...Very soft player when i have watched him! I want the Mahaffey kid from Moeller!
I don't believe Duncomb is the rim protector we need but he certainly is a talented big man and we can use as many of those as possible. Would be huge.
Would you rather have Archie Miller or John Brannen?
Greg Marshall is available.
Richard Pitino out at Minnesota.

Brannen as of now. I might change my mind in a year depending on how next season goes.

His name got him hired and his performance got him fired.

I'll be curious to watch these high major coaching searches this year though. Two B10 jobs are now open. Maybe because it's been such a disjointed season but I really haven't heard much buzz about coaches ready to move up to $3 million + a year jobs.

Using the AAC as an example, Sampson is 65 years old and I'm sure they gave him an oil well in Houston. WSU's coach is a rookie; Brannen is 2nd year, Penny isn't leaving Memphis. After that, who would even be considered as successful?
