No thread on this?

The Senate should either fulfill its duty and vote on my nominees or it should formally adjourn so I can make recess appointments," Trump said. "We have a tremendous number of people that have to come into government. And now more so than ever before because of the virus and the problem."

Trump does raise a real problem that has haunted government since the turn of the century.

The Senate has to approve 4,000 presidential appointments. That's a ridiculously high number. Starting in the W Bush administration, obstructionist Senators have started to ensure that hundreds of those don't receive votes. This severely handicaps the ability of the government to do its job.

As for the threat to adjourn the Senate, it's quite literally written into the Constitution that the President has the authority to do so, as your link says: "Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution grants Trump the power to "on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper."

Which one of these kids acted out of anger, and which one acted out of love?
Which one seeks fame, and which one shies away from it?
Which one is a multimillionaire who uses yachting to score political points?
Which one is a high school dropout?
Which one threatened to shut down the world unless every government does exactly as they command?

And yet which one of these kids was lionized by the press, and which was demonized?

Such is the world we live in.
I'd say both of those kids suck, but that's just me.

Every time I see that pic of the second kid, I immediately see Joey Logano.

Why cause when Sandmann was confronted by an adult who wanted a confrontation he grinned, and when the media decided to slander him he fought back? He should've been a good boy and took it huh.

Ouch, can you imagine the hell that would cause among the political punditry if he went that far?

I would love it.
Merely the threat ought to be enough.

My guess is the DC swamp critters will misjudge things again and they won't do it. The Drumpf will adjourn both chambers, make numerous absentee appointments, the MSM will have their 9 hundred and 78th meltdown in the past 3 years.

Do it.

Is he allowed to adjourn them if both the House and Senate agree on the adjournment date? I believe that is the case.

The better question/topic is how long has the practice of proforma sessions been going on and how does the extent of their historical use compare to their usage today?
Trump put CNN in its place. He should read out all the bullsh*t Dems are trying to tack onto the stimulus bills from a clipboard and then toss that ish at the media’s feet at one of the press briefings. “I have no choice but to intervene. Dems have the votes, but they are on some dummy sh*t.”

Get the money to the people and let’s reopen the economy.

Yeah. You know absolutely nothing about him except someone came into his face and he smiled.
