Our investment in our Tennis Facility is beginning to pay very big dividends....
In our effort to finish in the top three in conference in everything, Charlotte is adding Women's Lacrosse so we can spend more money. Coming for you Mean Green!

Ha! I doubt anyone sees their spending increase next year. At this point I certainly don't expect North Texas to raise their spending levels.
Wow Tech and WKU are crushing it, some of the best ROI in the country.

UNT and ODU not so much, You should demand better ROI from a large state commuter school with student athletic fees.

I think North Texas is doing a better job than you are giving us credit for. Yes, we had a disappointing football season (which we are working to correct), but many of our other sports either won titles in the most recently completed year or was ranked among the top 3 in the conference (men's basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball). And, North Texas is still working to reach our potential. With the downturn in the economy, I'm glad North Texas has a budget of $40 million to work with, instead of possibly having to make cuts with only a $23 million budget to work with.

Like Texas, Louisiana has a significant portion of their economy tied to the oil business. LA Tech already has a very low athletic budget. Does your AD have a plan to weather significant reductions in funding?

How you spend it is just as important as how much you are spending...

I think schools with tight budgets are more use to pushing dollars where they need to go. Than the other way around. But there comes a point when you dont even have that choice.

If this stupid **** hangs around long enough we might just see a shift of a bigger downturn in enrollment for 3 or 4 years afterwards. The one thing that comes with that is reeling in those million dollar and 1.8 million dollar contracts.

Going to be interesting to see how American's come out of this

So Stanz will have decide if the money is better spent on player's families or refs huh? Tough times.
Charlotte just concluded a fund raising effort, the Exponential Campaign. As I understand it, $49 million is for athletics.

That's a successful effort right there. Good Job Niners. We did something similar but ours was purely for athletics.

Kudos to WKU, La Tech and USM for getting more bang for the buck. ODU and a few others, not so much. We are stuck in the middle. Wouldn’t expect anything else for the second smallest public institution in the country, in the most depressed area of the country.

I wouldn't use that on a bumper sticker.

I wouldn't use that on a bumper sticker.

For Tech, its true. We are in the forgotten part of a state that lives at the bottom of every state list on the planet. We are also the third smallest public institution in FBS only ahead of Coastal Carolina and ULM. To be fair, Tech does more with less than any University in FBS sports. Our record and financial books prove this.

Agree Tech does a great job. I always notice how much of an outlier ULM is. ULM operates at 2/3rds the revenue level of the most frugal members of C-USA. That seems unsustainable.

Wouldn’t expect anything else for the second smallest public institution in the country, in the most depressed area of the country.

These schools are amateurs. Appy spends $5 million a year more than they bring in, and at ECU it is $12-20 million (nobody knows). That is how you really get more bang for your buck!

Its a real point of contention in the region. Keep in mind, I have a healthy portion of my family that graduated from ULM, but the facts are facts. Northwestern State, McNeese State and Southeastern are all relatively the same size or larger as ULM but they chose to stay in FCS. ULM has some quality educational programs but their athletics have been playing above weight since 1994. My wife even admitted that the only football games she ever attended at Malone stadium were the ones they played against Tech. That's because they were the only games at the time that mattered. Tech has been very lucky to maintain so much success given the economic restraints of the state and region. We missed some chances in the 90s and mid-2000s to take a gamble and bump up but chose not to out of fear of financial constraints. In the long run we have been blessed.

Speaking of ULM, their Defensive Coordinator (and ULM alumnus) Mike Collins abruptly resigned today. They are 10 days from playing Army and the DC just decided "I'm not feeling it anymore, I'm out. See ya." Who does that to their team and who helped prompt them to make such a decision at such a grossly unacceptable time?!!!

And people keep asking us ad nauseum "Hey LA Tech fans, why don't ya'll want to be in a conference with ULM? You must be afraid of them." This is just evidence exhibit #8,437 of why we don't want to be in a conference with those nut-jobs. Are we afraid of nut-jobs like that? Yeah, I guess so.
2020-20210 numbers will be interesting...
Amazing that La Tech, Southern Miss and our arch enemy, Western, have so little revenue for their respective athletic budgets. Clearly, they each get more (And I hate to admit it) BANG for the BUCK than all of the rest of us.

Yes, I've always been impressed by them as well.

On a couple of separate notes, first of all, I had no idea SMU would be at the top of the AAC. I also had no idea Georgia Tech's official name is apparently actually Georgia Institute of Technology, not Georgia Tech University.
