That according to a poster on the BYU board and it seems to be generally accepted as the case. This is the current deal ... they are apparently in negotiations now with ESPN to extend the contract. New deal new terms I would assume. But with that caveat it would seem to me at the 7 million each AAC member gets together with Bowl money and college playoff money would make the amount more than the current BYU number at least.

If they do fb only they could still keep revenue from other sports. Cfp money is almost $1 million they would also get. Give them half of UConn's exit money and any additional increase in the tv deal. Boom... done

McMurphy laid out a lot of the other positives for BYU .... it is a radio clip posted elsewhere on the board. I would have to think that if BYU decided not to join it wouldn't be because of money. I've also come around thinking that if we don't get Army or BYU.. stay at 11.

Certainly they front load with good schools but when the conference play starts the last half of their schedule doesn't look all that great. That said this year's BYU schedule looks really good probably it's best ever.

It looks like their better games are usually in September. They'd be able to keep a lot of the good ones. They would just drop a lot of the MWC garbage.

False, after the front loaded schedule they play for pride and pride alone. In the AAC they could play for a conference championship. Fans care about championships and it sucks to be 7-2 and out of the running for a NY6 bowl as an indy with nothing left to play for during all of November.

I guess if we added them for football only. UConn vacated a full slot on the media payouts, and BYU would only be taking a Navy share. Otherwise, it would be the same.

I don't think trading Tenn/SDSU/Utah St for a combo of Houston/UCF/Memphis/UC is any drop off. You would have to think Navy/Tulsa/SMU compare favorably to UMass/Liberty.
So in short, I don't think they are losing attendance.

BYU's future home schedules are much improved. And, BYU plays at least 4 games by 10/15 in most years - when the weather is the best anyway. In addition to the Utah game and September home games with Michigan State, Tennessee, Arizona State, Arizona, Stanford, Minnesota, Baylor, Oregon, etc., back-half October and November games include Virginia(twice), Missouri, Arkansas, Stanford, @USC, @Stanford, @NC State, @Baylor, @Washington St., in addition to back-half games with Boise State and the occasional other MWC and AAC schools.
Of course, we also have late-season FCS games most seasons, but those are scheduled when the weather is usually the worst anyway. The USC and Stanford road games over Thanksgiving weekend will help the end of year schedule tremendously.

Look at 2020 through 2025 (2024 can use some help, though).
A BYU Sports Talk show had Brett McMurphy as a guest. They asked him if BYU should join the AAC. Shockingly---he thinks they should. He thinks BYU would be far more relevant in the AAC where they would be in the race for a NYD bowl. He also thinks they would make more in the AAC. McMurphys interview starts at about the 43.00 minute mark.

Ok, sad about missing out on... Northern Illinois, Georgia Southern, Wyoming, UNLV, Georgia Southern revenge game, and whoever else you guys schedule in 2025. Some of those are away games, but you get my friggin point.

We need to kick out a few members to get BYU to join. Only way to improve the schedule.
