I'm pulling for both former coaches. But I'd rather see quality mid majors with great records get in.

Perspective. Sure looks like a coach that led UNCW to back to back NCAA appearances after a decade of misery to me. I guess you could put the picture of our other NCAA coach in that caption as well, right?

You have no sense of humor, do you.

Not with you, no.

I'd take a good mid over a garbage P5 any day. Unfortunately the selection committee doesn't agree.

I'm with 70s here. It's nice for us to know they're there, but it really doesn't do anything for us. As much as I like Brownell... his time at UNCW is so far past (13 years now) that it doesn't have much bearing or any at all on future success for UNCW. It's fun to hear us mentioned by announcers if they even put 2 and 2 together, but that's going to go in one ear and out the other for the majority of listeners.

So aside from nostalgia, having either or both of them in the tournament or playing each other does little to nothing for us, IMO.

Same same. It's not a slight against either coach there, just that I prefer mid majors getting their "shot of a lifetime" vs watching a "round 3" of a regular season style game.

I would normally pull for the mid major argument. But Brownell getting his team back in the tourney will help quiiet some rumbling going on at Clemson about firing him. So I am pulling for them. And the fact that I am also a Clemson fan.

Imagine where they would be had Zion not thrown everyone a curve ball and headed off to Duke?

I wouldn't say Zion threw anyone a curveball. Most people assumed he was going to Duke... Clemson would be dumb to fire Brownell. He's turned them into a solid program within the ACC.

That was not assumed until the very end. They weren't the front runners at all. After RJ signed there many assumed that ship had sailed

In that regard, I'd like him to retain his job. Certainly, I would never root against him. That being said, my only "loyalty" there is again, based on nostalgia.

I guess I was a little closer to the program and what he did even as an assistant here. Not so sure Wainright would have put us on the map without Brownell.

Oh, didn't mean to take away from Rodney Terry's recruiting abilities. But Brownell was the X's and O's guy.

I'm sure, as I was only a student back then. I didn't mean to take away from anything he did here, just that his being in the tourney or not at this point in his career doesn't really affect UNCW. Aside from that, I'll always root for his success wherever he lands and would love it if the opportunity arose for him to return, as unlikely as that is.
42-26 Tigers at halftime.

State is shooting 11-31 (.355) from the field, including 1-10 from 3.

Clemson is shooting 16-31 (.516), including 8-13 (.615) from 3.

Ouch. State fans are going to get restless.

tick.... toc.... tick.... toc
This game has only proved to me that neither of these teams should be tournament bound. Especially if they’re given a nod over a quality mid major with 25+ wins who just didn’t happen to win their conference tourney.

Clemson getting hosed.
Crappy ending there. But that also reminded me a bit of our NCAA Tournament loss to GW, unfortunately. Never should have gotten to that point.
Horrible foul call! Brownell looked really pissed when shaking Keatts hand.

Agreed. Neither team looked like a tourney team.
