Just posted by Yahoo. This may have some implications for Memphis recruiting and recruits. Something to watch going forward. Thought I would post it here.

How does this impact us? Particular recruits ?
Will Wade drawing repeated NCAA scrutiny certainly has a Hugh Freeze feel to it, i.e. pretty much cheating from day 1 they get SEC jobs. Here is a Yahoo story from exactly one year ago today about Wade being already under NCAA investigation, before and totally separate from Wade getting caught on the FBI wiretap discussing paying a player. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-lsus-wi...22122.html

"Members of the NCAA enforcement staff have spent parts of the past six months looking into the recruiting tactics of LSU coach Will Wade, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

NCAA enforcement officials have done work both on the phone and in person to look into Wade, including traveling around the country, to learn more about his recruiting. The NCAA’s scrutiny of Wade began not long after his hire at LSU in March, but the inquiry has stalled because of a lack of on-the-record specifics about Wade’s recruiting, according to a source."
Trendon Watford
Lester Quinones
One other thing. Mark Emmert, the President of the NCAA, was the Chancellor of LSU from '99-'04. He hired Nick Saban from Michigan State. One would have to think this would not help LSU in any investigation, since Emmert is so open to charges of favoritism.
Biggest news for Memphis recruiting since Wiseman signed.

Agreed.
The recruits will surely smell smoke.
Seems like a lot of AD's and Presidents have decided to hunker down. Sean Miller got suspended at Arizona last February, just about every sports media guy said his firing was imminent, and yet he's still the coach. LSU the same way, saying their internal investigation didn't turn up anything, while acknowledging the NCAA is probing them.

If the schools have a losing coach or a coach that embarrasses them, they use this info to fire the coach with cause, so they don't have to pay the contract. Like UConn did with Ollie. But if they have a good coach, they ride it out. Boeheim got a minor penalty, 9 game suspension. Pitino didn't get fired the first time.

True but for our purposes and the overall competition of recruiting, especially right now, this is going to be tough for Wade to escape from.

I agree.

And while it may take years for the NCAA to investigate and act, like with Freeze at Ole Miss, the risk for someone like Trendon is that he commits to LSU, gets on campus, and then something pops up and his isn't allowed to play. So he would have to sit out a year, waiting for the draft or to transfer.

Funny that a guy like Archie Miller recruiting Trendon for Indiana now has to point this out about Will Wade to Trendon, when Archie's brother at Arizona is also in the NCAA's cross hairs.

They have a way out.

Rat on the other guy.

If they both walk, they ratted.

Indiana is not a factor, but yea, that would be ironic

Yeah, earlier today an Indiana site posted that it looks like Watford will not be making a visit there.
I would love to hear how Will Wade explains this to Trendon and Lester. I mean you know he has to come up with some 'I had no idea' story that makes it all okay.

Well he is recruiting them and was making strides so you cant assume the recruits and/or someone in their camp arent down with a little foul play.

That's true. So if both commit to penny will you say penny got em clean or will you say they went to the next highest bidder?? I'm guessing you will say the latter.
