As far as I know LSU and Arizona are Nike schools. Just thinking out loud here but I wonder if the coaches of those two schools might have some verifiable inside information related to other Nike schools they can use to deal with. Again, just thinking out loud here, but isn't Kentucky a Nike School? 03-wink

Well he is recruiting them and was making strides so you cant assume the recruits and/or someone in their camp arent down with a little foul play.

That's true. So if both commit to penny will you say penny got em clean or will you say they went to the next highest bidder?? I'm guessing you will say the latter.

I have no idea and actually dont really care about that stuff.
That's the problem with the whole "highest bidder" thing - isn't anyone that was a "bidder" at all still guilty?

Lol well you brought it up.
I don't think this hurts our chances at all.

Btw Penny is selling a lot of positives here, young men are buying...just saying..and Nike loves Penny.

Yeah. Cause it doesnt matter to me from the perspective that I dont care if these players take a little under the table. Its a dirty game from top to bottom, but we want to jump on these players and coaches cause thats all we see. Jump on the pawns and not focus on the King and Queen who control the game. All those top players during the Cal era here were riding clean. No one in Memphis was outraged when it was their team. People are such hypocrites when this stuff.

I was just pointing out how silly it looks to say Will Wade is dirty, acknowledge that he is making major traction with recruits you want, then act like those recruits will be so offended when they "find out" he is dirty as if they didnt know. However, they may simply look elsewhere because they dont want to be part of an open scandal or miss the tournament. But just dont assume they had no knowledge.
How much of an impact will this really have?

It was a huge news story when ESPN reported Miller was on tape talking pay for play

Arizona has the #1 class in the country months later

Would you call Penny “silly” for saying and believing will wade is dirty? If indeed he believes that and has said it privately? Or is your comments just directed to the Tiger fans that believe Wade is dirty?
If these coaches are breaking the rules they are dirty. Period. Doesn’t matter if it’s our coach or LSU coach. Not saying that I blame them. But still doesn’t make it right.

As a fan of college basketball I 100% care. I take it personally when other programs are called out, proven cheaters and get away with it. We got hammered because of the possibility of something. Still to this day with no proven facts. It's complete BS that programs are allowed to cheat while others are destroyed for doing less. Kansas got away with Author but we get hit for Rose lol. It's a joke.

UNC is another example. In my opinion fake classes for decades is much worse than anything we may or may not have done with Rose. Did they lose titles, wins, finals fours, so on and so forth?

Is Arizona gonna get hit?
Is LSU gonna get hit?
What about anyone else involved?

How many times have we been punished in our history for some of the same stuff these people are seemingly getting away with at this point.

So yes, it matters. We of all programs have a right to complain about "dirty" underhanded bs. The kid was essentially a Memphis lock. Now he's maybe an LSU lean maybe a Duke lean out of nowhere just because they randomly offer with seconds left on the clock lol?

Regarding paying players, if it is a rule that gets passed fine but this underhanded dirty stuff is illegal. They choose to come to college for a year for the FREE exposure, they could go overseas or do something else. They are given FREE housing. They get FREE food. They get to play basketball, train, use equipment, and get better all for FREE. In some colleges they even get passing grades without ever really attending the class. Even if they don't make the pros they get a FREE education. An athlete isn't better than a normal college student who is busting their butt to get their degree. What makes them so special that they should get everything FREE and then get paid as well? Should we do the same for medical students who will go on to save lives? Something that is much more meaningful and more important than playing a sport? Should we do the same for other students in general? We cater to athletes/entertainers too much at all levels as is. We shouldn't bend on this. If you get caught cheating, regardless of who you are or your status you get hammered, period.

This isn't some semi pro organization. This is college.

No it would not be silly for Penny to.believe Wade is dirty. It would be silly for him to do what someone implied earlier. To approach Watford as if Watford did not know that Wade was dirty and like he would be so.offended to find out that Wade gets down like.that. I dont know if Penny participates or gets down like that and dont care to know, but Im sure he knows some of the guys he recruits, if not the majority of them, are willing to play that game.
This staff does not use “negative recruiting” tactics. They just don’t.

I guess there’s no need to.
I think we forget that these kids have goals too. They're looking to make a career of basketball. Taking money at this level puts their future in jeopardy. It's often a family member on the take - someone who doesn't have their career on the line and someone who doesn't have the kid's long term goals in mind. This is the sad part. Can you imagine using your loved one to make money all while jeopardizing their future? Crazy.
Dawkins was sentenced to six months in jail today, Gatti was sentenced to nine months. Dawkins lawyer said he would "pull back the curtain" on corruption during the upcoming April trial. This is the trial what Miller and Wade have been subpoenaed to testify.
Yahoo is now reporting that the FBI has Will Wade on wiretap talking about making a money offer to a recruit. I have to think he is now done at LSU.
This is juicy. Pop that pimple! Get all out in the open.

With Dawkins attorney saying they will tell all, with a subpoenaed testimony of Wade, and now with recordings that the FBI have, I have a feeling Wades over / under is one month.
Like it or not this is not as great news for Tigers as some make it out to be. While Tigers could be running the cleanest program in the nation. The mere fact that Peny has been able to bring in such a highly rated class in such a short time while competing against pay for play coaches will draw attention from the NCAA. Not that it means he has taken part in any illegal activity, but extra attention will be placed on the program. Name recognition is one thing. But we have a rookie unproven coach who is winning recruiting battles against some of the top established coaches in the game.
