no effort is needed to make orange mushroom look bad.

Keep thinking that...please

I will.

I'm curious: what do the Trump fans on here think will happen before 2020? How do they see Trump's negatives going down/positives going up?

Though it's too early to say for sure, opinions on the president look more cemented than they've ever been.
Lots of time, if Economy and jobs keep going well, he will be a very tough out. Most of Dem candidates are ultra left leaning which scares the crap out of most people.

I wouldn't expect his numbers to change much, but he will drive his opponents negatives way up.

But the economy has been strong. Isn't that priced in at this point?

Worse/same as Hillary's numbers?

what else do they have to run on???

the comedy that will be displayed during the donk debates will be epic relative to line 1b)....nuts zongo is chompin' at the bit waiting on their prelims....

whoever emerges from the left is going to enter a cage match with 'orange man bad' holding nothing more than the residue of a socialist smelly dump...

This thing probably won’t be decided until next Feb/March.

But for now I really am convinced that it’ll be either Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, or Elizabeth Warren. Still time for other people to jump in, but seems that way for now.

Biden — too old, too white, too establishment. No chance.
Bloomberg — too old, too white, too billionaire/moderate. No chance.
Sanders — too old, too white, still some hard feelings about how he didn’t roll over quickly enough for Hillary. No chance.
O’Rourke — too young, too white, too obviously unqualified and unserious. Media was willing to refrain from pointing out these flaws as long as he was running against Rafael Cruz. They will not be so forgiving when the alternative is a potential FirstWomanPresident. No chance.

I don't see who Gillibrand's base is. I'm interested to see what happens with Klobuchar. She's not super compelling, but lots of people seem to like her and she comes across as very competent (from what I've seen).

I do think that if she's the Democratic candidate in 2020, she will be much more aggressive in going after Trump than Hillary.

Kamala/Beto would make a very formidable ticket. That would cover just about every base the Democrats need to contend. But I don't think Beto would be happy with being relegated to second banana.

You think rich white Jews will vote for her because she’s married to one?

It's possible to make someone as unlikeable as Hillary, but I'm not sure how. She got the nomination by clearing the field before it started. I don't see how someone as unlikeable as her could emerge from such a crowded field.

What percentage of the country would vote for the worst Dem candidate over Trump?

I think of all the Republicans on this site, you have the best political insights of any posters. But no way on Gillibrand. She was the darling when she first became Senator and got a standing ovation from the entire Senate for serving until like the day of or the day before she gave birth to her child. But since then, she's quickly soured with both parties. It's now to the point that I think she's susceptible of losing her next primary battle.

Maybe subsitute Klobuchar for her, and maybe you're right.

In the glass half empty view, because people are more comfortable at this moment they view socialism more favorably; as in, "the economy is good why can't we help those that are having problems?" Especially since Democrats think that businesses and governments have big piles of money just sitting around to give out.

Again - it more social and virtue signaling "Look how much I care" than it is about the financial, social and familial repercussions of "caring too much."

Caring gets you likes and Twitter mentions. That's enough for today's Modern Liberal.
Klobuchar: I thought she had decided not to run. But if she gets in, then yeah she would have a legit shot.

Gillibrand: to me, she has all the gravitas and qualifications of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But somehow she seems to be a hit with donors and media.
Maybe it’s her Wall-Street background. We’ll see how she does.

#oxymoron

there isn't one on the board worth salt....

I'm watching kamala right now....she's status quo hem-haw....

right now she's arguing against 'for profit colleges' that her party has done nothing to prevent as they've subsidized such.....

and that's only one of the many dipshite maneuvers dems find valuable...

why do think the resistance has become #henceDJT???
(01-21-2019 10:53 AM)CliftonAve Wrote: [ -> ]The Dems are going to have the same problem the Republican ticket had for the 2016 election. They had 20 candidates in there which caused all the votes to get split amongst all the candidates, which aided Donald Trump in winning the primary.

The most interesting thing to me is the Dems have no center left candidates. On the Democrat side, its going to be a race to see who can be the most extreme left option. Once again it appears they are totally misreading the electorate. Its very possible the Dems will end up handing the election to president Trump by running a far left candidate who is wildly out of touch with the vast majority of the US electorate.
