Update 6 p.m. EST Jan. 18: President Donald Trump said in a tweet that he will make a major announcement on the government shutdown and the southern border on Saturday afternoon from the White House.
Anybody have an idea as to what that announcement is?

Guess is that he declares an emergency and figures out a way to pay critical federal workers. So TSA and FDA and a few others get paid. Park service probably not.

that's plausible.....it's also plausible he ends it all today by declaring a Nat'l Emergency laying out the monies for border security along with reopening the gov't...
regardless, he'll easily mention the current push of future illegals coming up from Honduras and hammer Pelosi for her refusal to negotiate....

The dems lost all of their leverage last night when the special counsel came out and discredited the BF story. They didnt have a good week. My guess the shutdown is over by Wednesday.

This is my guess as well.
He’ll focus on the 400+- alien invaders who burrowed under a weak spot in the fencing area, marking the largest single border rush in a long time.
Clearly the dims aren’t AT ALL serious about the issue/problem, and resources are at the snapping point already.
Time to just take it over and get it done.
Maybe shoulda let Fransicko Nan go off to her far flung photo-op and let her lick her dentures over there while he addresses the real issues in this once great Country.
And, bonus time- time to drop the hammer on Ol Mejico.

I suspect that he will offer the BRIDGE Act in return for Dems caving on his stupid wall.
The Dems would be fools to take that deal. BRIDGE doesn't provide a path to citizenship for Dreamers, and it only provides temporary and revokable protections for TPS and DACA applicants. And BRIDGE doesn't provide anything incremental over Obama policy. 5 Billion for a wall is incremental, BRIDGE just fixes Trump's hostage taking.
Rumor is that Trump's 'offer' was vetted by Stephen Miller. If true, then there's not going to be anything in the bill to continue.

By the way, it may be the case that there's just one element of the story that the special prosecutor's office has an issue with. It much more likely that they simply don't want Congress holding hearings at this time on it.
