We lose an all-time Buc great at quarterback after tonight. Next year we will have to look to someone new to lead the Bucs on the field in 2019. It is certainly not set in stone, who will start and we have multiple options.

Logan Marchi - The most experinced returning quarterback next year. He transferred in from Temple, and started the first 4 games of the season. He didn't look too great. His awareness and passing touch were lacking. While he is the most "safe option", how high is upside?
HE WILL NOT BE BACK.

Tyrique Sandusky - The most known of our younger QB's. He put impressive stats in high school and was our de facto third string QB. There was question if he was still on the team half-way through the year. He seems to have a higher celing than Marchi.

Trey Mitchell- Played high school at Knox Central. Transferred from Coahoma Community College … Played against Northwest on Oct. 5, 2017 … Completed 13 passes for 119 yards … Played high school ball at Knox Central where he set the career and single season passing yards and touchdowns records … Totaled 4,564 passing yards and 52 touchdowns at Knox Central.

Cameron Lewis- Multi-sport athlete out of Eagle’s Landing High School (football and baseball) … Totaled over 5,800 yards and 59 touchdowns (47 passing/12 rushing) in three seasons for the Golden Eagles … Passed for 1,978 yards and 14 touchdowns, while rushing for 468 yards and seven touchdowns in his senior season.

It could be any of these guys, or somebody else could could transfer in. It will be fun to watch the battle, so who do you think starts?
Ecclesiastes 3:4:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

.......a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them.....

Speaking just for myself...………...mourning is the theme and purpose of this time, not forgetting this team to plan for the next one ("gathering stones"). But maybe that's just me being reflective...…...

I don't give myself time to mourn. I have to move on, if I do I will think about what could have been and will get nothing done.
Randy will let us know in about 275 days.
Marchi's adjusted yards per attempt was 3.9. That's probably one of the lowest in college football for a starting QB. I would not consider him a viable option going forward based on his performance this year.

Bring in an FBS transfer or a JUCO kid with two years and let Mitchell, Sandusky, and Lewis battle it out to succeed him. The winner of that battle will still be a two-year starter and have a path open to him to start earlier if the transfer falters.

Our QB room as-is will not get it done - with all the starters we have coming back, an immediate infusion of talent at the most important position in football will be necessary for us to reach our potential, which is that of a team that can make a deep playoff run. If I'm Sanders, that's my first priority.

It's more about respect for what or whom one is mourning.
FWIW, Mitchell was the backup yesterday.
This will be interesting to watch. ETSU has a lot coming back next year.
This is my only concern, because the only thing that Sanders did truly wrong this year was choosing Marachi over Herink to start the season. I hope sanders is looking for a winner and not just an arm. I am hoping Marchi is the winner because I do indeed like his arm though.

This is interesting because Logan is the only other quarterback that has taken a snap during a game that I know of.

Why I posted it last night because it will give something to speculate on in the off-season.
Is there any chance that Marchi goes elsewhere? Was it truly an injury that kept him out yesterday? I have no inside knowledge, just wondering.

One of the announcers on the radio prior to the game said he didn't make the trip because he was under concussion protocol.
I understand it may be fun to discuss and speculate this and other topics, but who will be the starting quarterback next year is a moot point. It will be decided after spring or preseason practice by coach Sanders. Who knows who might transfer in, or quit or transfer out. What will be exciting to me will be watching the first year of the recruiting process under Sanders.

Let's hope and pray.
Can you add an "anyone but Marchi" option

You better hope so
I really enjoyed the ESPN announcers at the Jacksonville State game talking about Herink -- He's a football player. Who cares about his arm strength or his 40 time?
