Sad week finally here, but now looking forward to a great celebration and game on Saturday. Surprisingly, plenty of tickets still left, but hope the community will make it a full stadium and that the students will come out in full force.

William and Mary leads the series, 62-61-5. Need to pad that and give Jimmye a day to remember.

Oh, to see a 54-12 Tribe beat down.

Go Tribe!

Richmond basketball lost to Longwood last night, football is getting beat up by Maine.

Let’s put the nail in the coffin next Saturday and really give their fans something to cry and moan about.

If we protect the ball the way we did today I don’t see us getting straight up beat by the Ticks.
Think the Griffin's balls need to be the new Blarney Stone, and should become a new tradition for all players, students, alum and fans to walk by and pat'em (no kissin') before each game for good luck.

Basketball will always be my favorite, but this week will be all about football and Jimmye.

We're setup perfectly for Jimmye's final game and sending him off in a big, big way:

*Win would give us a .500 season, 5-5!. Who would have bet a dime on that after the consecutive
Va Tech and JMU beatdowns?

*Win would round Jimmye's win total to a perfect 250!

*And go out with a win against the rival Spiders!

And a personal prediction...Jimmye will pull out the All-Green old uniforms usually seen only at Homecoming.

Let's pack Zable for a memorable day to salute our future College Football Hall of Fame coach.
39 years, a living legend.
A reasonable chance that we finish tied with Elon for 6th place in the final standings. Although we would have the tiebreaker if Maine wins out, I think we need to play the cancelled game the following Saturday, if Elon doesn't win and make the playoffs. Absolutely no reason not to.

Do we think a 6-5 team with 2 “quality” wins is enough to get into the playoffs?

Not with five CAA teams at 7-4 or better.

So is there really a point to play the game then? A win against UR would be the perfect send off.
Chance for that much more experience for returning players. Gives Devonte one more college football game that he would otherwise be shortchanged.

Richmond is bad. No chance we lose at home for Jimmye's last game.

From what I remember from my (ancient) school days the players have been in Williamsburg since August and can’t wait to get home. There might be 20 on campus come Monday.
I am VERY excited for this one! Hope we send of Coach with a great one!
This should be fantastic:

- Richmond is coming in on a three game losing streak, and has lost six of their last seven.

- They are basically trying out two QBs, neither of whom is playing well

- W&M is playing for a respectable .500 record

- Tribe is playing for Jimmye's 250th win

- It's a sendoff for a legendary coach

- Stadium *should* be pretty full

Richmond has nothing to play for, and our team has everything. We've got this.
UR did not look good vs Maine. This should be a cakewalk!

That's what scares me!!!

There are no cakewalks in the CAA...ever
There will be an atmosphere like none ever seen at Zable or any other W&M game on Saturday.

I can't imagine what Jimmye is experiencing this week.
It is my recollection that W&M - Richmond games when both schools are below .500 are not well attended.

I will be happily surprised if this game is well attended, especially by the student body.

What will make Saturday unique for me is that it will be the last time that JL is the head coach. You have to go back to 1979, my senior year, to say that. My entire alumni life has had one football coach. Just remarkable.

Remarkable career for JL.

Looking forward to excellent video board stuff.

Especially not when it comes to the Capital Cup.

Richmond has some talented athletes on their team, but have been unable to put it together this year. One of their huge downfalls has been turnovers. They are 5th from the bottom in FCS in turnover margin, having lost27. I think if we can win the turnover margin, similar to what we did against Villanova - we will win the game. If we don't, and give Richmond the ball and field position, they can beat us.

I also want to point out that no game is a cupcake when you have the last in the conference scoring offense. However, this week's opponent is less daunting as others - Richmond is allowing the most points per game in the conference.

Some other notable stats. Out of 12 CAA teams, Richmond ranks:
2nd in the conference in Pass Offense, only three yards per game behind Towson.
3rd in total offense.
10th in rush defense.
12th in pass defense.
12th in total defense.

They can put up points, (28 vs both Elon and Delaware) but their defense is very porous.

This game could come down to which defense gets the stops, and who has the costly turnovers. I'm optimistic that we pull out the win and make this a respectable season.

Based on these stats, it looks like the question will be whether our offense is really as bad as some think. If the offense can't score against this defense then it will be a long day, because it does look like the Richmond offense can score.

I think Richmond would love to send Jimmye out with a loss. But that isn't enough motivation to sustain a whole game or to weather adversity when the going gets tough. So, the Tribe's best bet is to smash mouth them early, stymie them on offense just long enough to take away any motivation they have for winning. If the Tribe can go up two scores in the second half then I think Richmond won't care any more and both teams can speed the game to completion.

With the Laycock factor weighed in, hopefully there will be no such thing as a 50-50 call in the game.

W&M wins 21-13 and Jimmye goes out a winner! (Of course, Jimmye goes out a winner no matter what the Tribe does on the field on Saturday).
