On that y'all have my word.

This should have happened when Penny signed Wiseman.

Good lord dude. Wiseman literally played for Penny in high school. How hard should that be to sign a guy who played for you in high school? The only thing that gave me pause was the Kentucky/Calipari money machine that was already deeply involved in his recruitment.

Quote:The bigger point is why people can’t just enjoy where the program is right now with our recruiting is odd.

The 2019 class is already excellent, it’s going to be better than that. The 2020 class will be great too. Enjoy.

I am enjoying all of that. The question is why can't I express my opinion without you whining about it. Stop being so damn sensitive.

I think we have no chance of getting Hurt, or Precious for that matter. I also think Penny has knocked it out of the park in recruiting. Those 2 things are not mutually exclusive. I don't think Penny is a failure because he won't sign some top 10 stud from Minnesota that Duke and the other bluebloods covet. It's almost impossible for a program like Memphis to do that.

My main point is that Penny has built the great wall of China around Memphis so far when it comes to recruiting. And that is GREAT!!!! But to take the next step nationally I would like for us to be able to get a top 100 player from elsewhere. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

This ^^^ minus the Precious comment. Think they have a decent shot.

yes?

thank goodness

all this childish banter

is most tiresome

It was a silent verbal tho
If Miller thought we had a shot at Hurt---I don't think he would be considering UNLV...if that is even true. The only reason he gave us a look is because of Miller. If there is even a remote chance of Miller leaving---there goes the remote at best Hurt shot

Miller's not leaving yet
Tho if miller keeps proving his abilities, like his scouting of and game plan for Central Florida...
Glad he’s here!

This^^^ It's so damn tiresome.

Why not post related to the topic instead of getting even further off-track?

For example, ESPN gives Hurt a five star rating and ranks him the 10th best recruit. His offer list includes many blue bloods (e.g. KY, Kansas, UNC, & Duke).

Quoting ESPN recruiting is worthless.

They almost never get anything right.

Just look at the teams Hurt is considering. What team is missing from that list?

So, while I do see some more recent articles that acknowledge Memphis is one of the schools he is still considering, we are still not one of the schools he has decided to take as an official visit. Once again, I hope everyone on this board that feels we have a legitimate shot rubs it in my face if he signs with Memphis. But, until we can at the very least get him to commit to take an official visit, I still don't believe he will likely be a Memphis Tiger. Has taken visits now to Kentucky and NC. Will visit Duke in January at the Virginia game and then take his visit to Kansas in February. One article does mention Memphis, along with Villanova and Minnesota as candidates for that last official. IF, he comes for a visit I would acknowledge we'd have a shot then.

P.S. - The article in the second link above is the only one where some guy (Corey Evans at Rivals) predicts Memphis to get the final visit as I copied his comments below

"Evans said he expects Hurt to take additional official visits to Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Memphis and an unofficial visit to Minnesota, where his brother, Michael Hurt, is a junior forward. The national analyst also expects this to be one of the last high-profile recruitments to be decided in the 2019 cycle."
That article was written on 11/29/2018.

I agree. Those visits say a lot. I dont see 4 planned visits to blue bloods and then a commitment to Memphis. It just seems unlikely.

Remember when Wiseman didn't schedule a visit with Memphis, were getting the last visit with Hurt.
I actually think Hurt's recruitment is more similar to Wiseman's recruitment than we give it credit for, I think Hurt to Kansas was a done deal similar to Wiseman to Kentucky, until we hired Mike Miller, who could flip him to Memphis like Wiseman

Told you guys we were getting the last visit with Hurt, I honestly think the national media has no clue in this recruitment. From his comments this week, I think it's between Memphis and KU, with Duke not far behind
Being Hurt's last official visit can only help. We may not get him, but making the final pitch puts us in a good position, and just getting him and dudes like RJ and Jalen on campus speaks volumes to other recruits this year and going forward. If you wanna get on the Memphis train, you better get a ticket cuz seating is limited.
Anytime you get the last Official Visit from a high profile kid like this your odds on landing him going up higher than the other schools in pursuit of him.

This is what I have been saying, thinking all along.

He would be the one get that would be the get get.

Everybody else says it ain't happening or it's a long shot.

But I have seen Mike Miller hit one from 3/4 court on a swish.

We got a chance.

I'd like to see Matthew Hurt in Tiger blue next year for sure.

Hitting one from 3/4 court on a swish.

Let's get it.
He had a bad game last nite
He bricked a 3 when he had Wiseman wide open on the low block. I didn't like that play at all.
Might have been nervous with coach k in the house
Is his visit confirmed / official yet?
