Thad who??????? Where is he from??????

OK to leave if you want to be invisible in your own hometown.

Kinda silly.

Dude has more career points than Penny and has banked over $82 MILLION dollars in his career and will make $13 million next year.

The real issue is that it's likely that most kids from Memphis WON'T have that post college success.

Maybe Tyler should tweet his uncle, Moultrie, Scooter, Roderick Watson, or others who didn't make it big out of Memphis.

While all that is true, Thad is still not embraced by the city as some ex-Tigers are. If Thad had been a Tiger he would be one of those beloved.

Yep

Can you say the same for some of the other hometown legends who stayed home?

Tyler isn't as talented as Thad either. He won't be getting paid like he has. After he calls it quits professionally (maybe a few years as a backup in the league or overseas for a decade) - what's he going to do? Move to Waco and be set for life?

But most TIGER fans would know most every TIGER--past and present--including most of the bench !
Not sure why Thad decided to go to Georgia Tech to be a one and done. He could have stayed at home and possibly brought home a national championship. That year, Georgia Tech busted out of the first round, while Memphis made it to the Elite 8.

I know. But I don’t want to say. Maybe someone else will.

It wasn’t cool. That I can tell you.

His father stated he wanted Thad to be coached by an African American coach, Cal wasn't. That's what was reported.

he ended with "that was what was reported" or whatever

You need to get to know the relationships better,,,,,,

For example, you should understand George Raveling's role in all of this as well
We need this Dude, he can but a TREY and two 5 ft 10 Dudes who can bust Treys on the floor together will be a big plus for us

I'd rather bank $100 million in my career and be incognito than struggle in the G league or sling donuts but get a free sandwich at Lennys because I was a Tiger.

But that's just me.

Well certainly, most anyone would. But he could have had 100mil and been an icon like Penny. Like you said earlier, he has an overall better NBA career than Penny but because he didn't go to Memphis, most people in Memphis don't care.

Well, he does have that whole "Team Thad" thing, which, if I'm correct, had the kid at the center of this thread on that team.

Also had Leron Black, Jaylen Fischer, Chris Chiozza, Jeremiah Martin, Lagerald Vick, Nate Hoover, Jordan Bone, Nick Marshall,....

Seems his AAU has done alright.

You know what I mean. If I were sitting right next to him in a restaurant I wouldn't recognize him and probably 75% of Memphis would be the same. Penny can walk in anywhere and immediately be known.
You’re either good enough to make it in the league or you’re not. Leaving or staying has little to do with whether or not you actually stick.

You make it sound like it's either / or. Like he couldn't have made it in the NBA, had he stayed at Memphis.

Because Thad would have been slinging donuts had he gone to Memphis? 01-wingedeagle
