A couple notes from ACC Media Day presser going on right now:

- GOR has been signed by all 15 schools and last until the end of the ESPN deal in 2036.

- Digital network will be called ACC Extra and will air 600 live events this year and approx 1300 by 2019, when the linear network will begin (and the Raycom contract expires)

- Basketball schedule will expand to 20 conference games in 2019 to provide more network content
The ACC Network is now official.
And here is the official press release.

Clarification: ACC Extra will go from 600 to 900 live events; the ACC Network, when it launches in 2019, will carry 400 live events. The TOTAL will be 1,300 live events spanning 27 sports.

FWIW, the ACC Digital Network will continue indefinitely, but will not have any live events - it's already mostly just highlights and rebroadcasts anyway, though there have been some live events (which will now be moved to ACC Extra, it appears).

Finally, the Raycom ACC broadcasts will continue until the cable network launches - at which point I assume all of those games will move the the ACC Network channel.

Odd... Swofford announced 40 football, 150 basketball, and 250 other events on ACCN, but the ESPNMediaZone release states " 450 exclusive live events including 40 regular-season football games, more than 150 men’s and women’s basketball games, more than 200 other regular-season contests and tournament games"

Obviously Swofford's numbers total 440 events, so ESPN's 450 number is very close, but the "other sports" don't match up... probably just an oversight and I'm just over-analyzing it.

I wouldn't expect them to announce financial details this way. If anything, it will be posted on ESPN.com

I was expecting more than a hype video & a repeat of a tweet or an article. Our local ESPN radio affiliate set aside an hour for the announcement, it was over in 20 minutes. Disappointed, expecting more.

Did you honestly expect the full financial details(which are probably impossible to be 100% certain of right now)? Not sure, but I doubt the SEC came out day one and said all of the revenues it would generate. Don't be like the usual suspects on this board who do nothing but complain.

Here's the thing: the SEC had no idea how much revenue the SECN would bring until ESPN started selling it to cable companies. That won't happen for the ACCN until 2018! So at this point the only thing they could've told us is how much the ACC got for extending it's Tier 1 rights, as well as the ACC Extra (ACCX?). True, I am curious about those... but also patient.

An official announcement is not a 'repeat' of a tweet or an article. A tweet or an article that anticipates an official announcement is a leak.

Yes, leaks do have a way of taking away some of the suspense.

The brevity of the announcement by Swofford and Skipper allowed reporters to talk to ADs and coaches of interest to them. A scan of Miami-area news sources, for example, shows University of Miami officials, including coach Mark Richt, being quoted as extensively as the commissioner. And the quotes were available within minutes.

Full financial details, no, but I was expecting some projections, possibly in some Q&A after. How was the current TV deal affected by the extension? Why 2019? Is ESPN converting a current channel like ESPNews? I was expecting some questions to be answered. If Maybin was prepared to give up the first hour of his ESPN radio show then I suspect that they were expecting more as well. The only new details that we learned are the 20 bball games & that ESPN execs kids attend a conference member school when ESPN starts a new network for that conference. I was expecting some sort of a bang & all we got was a whimper.

Read somewhere today that the ACC'/Espn deal with Raycom runs out around 2019 which means they would not have to buy back those rights from Raycom.
Glad to hear we'll get a full share of the network

It runs out because ESPN ends syndication of ACC content in 2019. I'm pretty sure that was the deal. If you syndicate the ACC, do it through Raycom. That is the "out".

I wouldn't be surprised if Raycome carved out another niche n this deal. All the while, not hurting the ACC.

No doubt that reflects value the Irish will be providing.

Much of the network's content consists of sports you play in-conference, and having that on the menu helps the channel get distribution.

Win-win.
