I think it will be two AAC teams taken if the B12 expands. So what would do you all think would be the logical next step? Expand or go to the Current B12 model with 10 teams and have a championship?

I actually think B12 model would work with the 9 game round robin and a CCG. Also, less mouth's to feed. Are there any other G5 teams that really enhance the AAC other than trying to get BYU or MWC's school?

What are you wanting to see?
First thing they do is check this thread to get our input. Make it count people.
If we lose two, I think they approach the MWC. We go hard after 6 of their teams.

If we lose 1, we offer Army first, then go after the MWC... and if not either then we have to look at the MAC or CUSA (which REALLY sucks for us)

Either way, I think the outcome has to be an aggressive move toward consolidating the best from the MWC into the AAC. 5-6 team addition would be best.

Air Force and Colorado are slam dunk additions. SDSU should be with us already. If UNLV gets an NFL team and that awesome new stadium, then they make a ton of sense. At that point the conference is dead and we offer Boise a lifeline.... an equal only share though. If we need a 6th team because we lost 2, then I would tend to lean toward Fresno. 2 teams each in Florida, Texas and California has some real recruiting potential.

Yes these threads are very important in the expansions decisions. We must keep making more of them in order to continue to drive it.

I think there are only 3 additions that would actually increase the value of the league that are even semi reasonable. Those are Army, Air Force, and BYU. If we got down to 10 I would only go back to 12 if at least 1 of those 3 were onboard. Otherwise just stay at 10.
Didn't Aresco say not long ago that if we lost one, we would replace, and if we lost two, we might just stay at 10?

Isn't this a catch-22? We become less attractive to MWC schools as we get raided... I would think our best/only chance to pull MWC schools is before, and with all this smoke it's probably already too late. They will wait to see what happens.

Only caveat is their lousy inequitable revenue sharing... if enough of them are getting fed up, that could tip the scales more in our favor.
UMASS! We haven't had a thread on UMass for awhile now... ;-)
If defections do happen, I think it'll be interesting to see how the AAC responds - as there are numerous avenues to go down. They can down the path (again) of trying to acquire a western wing (San Diego State, Boise State, Colorado State, Air Force, UNLV). They can try and added more regional schools that are in their southern footprint (Southern Mississippi, UAB). They can try and add more of a Northern footprint if they so desire (Army, Buffalo, UMass). Depending on who has defected, and they want more Midwestern schools, perhaps they can raid the MAC for NIU, Marshall or Central Michigan for more regional proximity for them.

Bottom line, the AAC has options - and I guarantee there have been informal discussions with schools letting them know they are being considered if/when the league loses teams.

HAHAHA lol!
If we lost 2, with exit fees ($20 m) and less mouths to feed on the current deal, each school could stand to pocket some extra cheese for a little while. Not a bad thing out of a rough situation.
Place your bets!

What’s the over under on how many posts before the USM fans are here telling us why they deserve to be in the AAC, telling us about their rich athletic history, and how with just a few AAC bucks their facilities and academics will be on par with the rest of the AAC.

I give it another 10 or so...
The AAC would need to add FIU and FAU

to replace the Florida market

You have a good argument here.

Assuming that ESPN doesn't take the opportunity to renegotiate. I believe they have the right to cancel the contract if two teams leave and at least one is from that group "A" that stipulated.
