Diesel Controversy #2:

So, that Tshirt I made was supposed to be delivered NO LATER than Yesterday Guaranteed:

I didn't get it so I chatted with their person. I was figuring there was some issue with Fed Ex and they'd deliver it today and they'd let me know what's up.

OH NO. Here's the Chat:

Quote:No robots here! You'll be connected with a real person shortly.

You are currently number 1 in line.

Success! You are now chatting with 'Mia'.

Mia: Hey there, thanks for chatting with CustomInk! I'm more than happy to personally help with anything you may need! How are you doing today Todd?

Todd J: Not great! I didn't receive my tshirt that was Guaranteed to arrive yesterday!

Todd J: Order #: T-6359814

Mia: Oh no! I am happy to take a look and see what is going on! I am so sorry about that! It should be just one moment while I look into this!

Mia: So it looks like there was a delay in the order due to the University name, and we are awaiting approval to print the shirt from the university. They normally get back to us quickly, but it looks like we have not heard back, and it has caused a delay in the order, I am so sorry about this Todd!

Todd J: Wow. I paid extra to have it rushed. Why didn't anyone contact me about this?!

Todd J: And this isn't a mass quantity shirt to sell or anything this is just *1* personal shirt! I should be able to say whatever the hell I want -- and to be contacted if there is some issue!!

Todd J: $44.70 for a shirt GUARANTEED to be delivered YESTERDAY and not a peep from you guys?!

Todd J: I don't care how YOU personally feel -- I care about the company -- what the heck?!

Todd J: There was no logo or copied graphic of words of the university or anything on there. It was typed out letters for a very expensive personal shirt. No warning about it, nothing. UGH!

Mia: I completely agree and I am so very sorry Todd, this is not our standard protocol, and it seems it must have slipped through the cracks, which is completely not okay. Regardless of quantity, we are required to receive approval from universities.

Todd J: The latter part has NOTHING to do with this issue. You have NO warning on there saying "If you have the word 'University' or 'College' on there, we're going to go thru processes to verify the college and go thru protocols to verify with them which can take a long time..."

Todd J: So here's what I'm going to do. Make sure you get your boss listening on this one...

Todd J: I'm going to make a blog -- even put Google Ad money in it

Todd J: About tshirts and such

Todd J: to come up for those searching -- and BLAST you guys if you think you're going to charge me $44+ for this whole thing

Todd J: I needed this shirt by SATURDAY

Todd J: So what are you guys going to do??

Mia: It is up to you at this point Todd. I would be happy to refund you the order in full, and cancel the order. If you would like to wait to hear back from the University, I can refund you the cost of shipping since the delivery date has passed, and we can go from there.

Todd J: Oh, you're going to refund it all right. And I'm going to blast you guys for not sending it to me or notifying me if that's all you're going to do.

Todd J: I'll make a URL against CustomInk -- blasting this whole concept. I do web ads.

Mia: Okay, I will cancel the order and refund you the money in full.

Todd J: This whole thing is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. Just a refund/cancellation on all this huh?

Todd J: WOW -- that is SO GRACIOUS! (insert sarcasm here)

Todd J: Hell yeah you're going to do that. Do it Now, please.

Todd J: Who is your boss?

Mia: I am sorry Todd, I am doing everything that I can. What else would you like me to do?

Todd J: Who is your boss?

Todd J: You're not doing everything you can until you answer my question of course.

Mia: I can have my manager call you if you would like, his name is Humza.

Todd J: Yes. Will I not get a call and that slip thru the cracks?

Mia: Let me reach out to him now, what is the best number to reach you at?

Todd J: xxx-xxx-xxxx

Mia: Okay, it should just be a few moments while I reach out to him.

Todd J: I'll stay here until I hear my phone ring from him.

The guy was real cool and totally agreed with me. Refund + they will send it out for Free.

IF it's approved. Turns out Custom Ink he tells me has a contract with NIU -- and it needs approval by NIU Administration!! And it's going thru that and they're taking their time and not responding to them -- and it could take another Week to send it out to me!!!

I said "So if I just modified it and took away 'Northern Illinois University' and kept the 'NIU' which could mean anything -- you guys can't do that because you already know what it means?"

He said "Yeah, exactly," and went on about the mascot symbolizing the university anyway going along with "NIU" after he chatted with the advisors on everything about it. He said NIU is dragging their feet, but once they get feedback of what I can and can't have on it, he'll contact me right away -- but will send it for free.

UGH!

But, no fear. I have pretty new white t-shirts. Looks like with some magic marker I'm going to do this hand-made for the Ohio State vs WMU game.

Thank you. I feel the same. :-)

I dont get that at all.

I feel the Master Plan will never come into fruition. It's a nice idea but I feel it's really doubtful it's going to happen. NIU is an elite G5 team and they fail to come close to selling out the stadium. This is the Huskie Golden Age, it's not going to last forever. Can you imagine how many people are going to show up when we have a 6-6 season? We don't have enough support to make the plan a reality. I'm not going to put my money towards something that is going to fail. A Diesal statue is a more attainable goal.

Wow! This was sad to read.

You know those facilities or any donations towards the athletics dept. can actually help out the actual ambassadors of NIU, you know.... the athletes.

This is sad, but I kinda knew something like this would happen. I had the same experience with Zazzle when I wanted to create postage stamps with the university name on them. They would not do it.

No it's okay, he's fine with being a mediocre program with mediocre facilities. The golden age is done! it's back to suffering!

I can't believe there are NIU "fans" that think like this. Unbelievable.
Ladies, stop!

I understand, "it's just a dog" mentality. However, some folks have stronger bonds with animals than others. It's all good.

Bottom line - I want to donate to both. I'd love to see a Diesel statue (have committed already) and would be happy to donate toward the Master Plan. Based on the STF-gram of today, it appears they're in the big $$$$ recruitment phase right now. When they get to the small donor appeals, then I'll be in. One is not exclusive to the other.

Just stop.

Especially animals they've never even seen up close!
You know what?
I changed my mind.
I'm now accepting Diesel in my life! He will forever be
there.
Instead of drinking a little coffee in the morning, I'll take a little Diesel, black please!
Northern Illinois University is a bit played out in my humble opinion. What is an Illinois anyways? It's stupid, it doesn't even high five!
Only high fiving things are cool.
I am a proud graduate of Northern Diesel University. NDU baby!

I'm even liking this so much I now named my car Diesel, as well as my phone and my guitar. Sometimes when I go to my friends house, I now put my Diesel in my Diesel and Diesel on down the Diesel.

Many on this board saw Diesel up close and on multiple occasions. For me a memorial wouldn't have to be a statue but there should be something.

You spelled Diesel wrong
Quote:You spelled Diesel wrong

No, I think HeyZeus (Jesus) is Diesel's Mexican cousin who comes up to visit in the summer. They've seen HeyZeus walk on water. He basically raced thru a kiddie pool to razz the kids.
It makes zero sense to compare the Master Facilities Plan and the Diesel Memorial. They are definitely not mutually exclusive, as far as cost. The MFP, as proposed, is projected to cost $136,000,000. As an illustration only, let's say the Diesel Memorial were to cost $6800. Therefore, the cost of the Diesel Memorial is .05%, or a factor of .0005, of the cost of the Master Facilities Plan. Comparing the costs, the Diesel Memorial is the proverbial "drop in the bucket" when compared to the MFP.

There's also no reason to think that because a person donates to the Diesel Memorial, he or she will donate less to the MFP. IMO, it won't change their donation to the MFP at all.
To honor Diesel, I will be only filling my car up with diesel.

It's not a VW is it?
Some of the posts on this thread are down right disrespectful. There's a difference between stating your opinion, and mocking those who don't agree with yours. The point of the thread was to raise some $X amount of money for some sort of memorial. Those who are in disagreement can do so, but leave it at that. This thread has been completely de-railed. If you don't agree with donating, then that's your prerogative, but PLEASE don't belittle those that disagree- and don't tell others how to spend their money.
Dog spelled backwards is God, get on board people. This is a worthy cause, honoring a great animal we all loved to see, a family that gave 1000's of the hours to NIU. At the same time, we can beautify Huskie Stadium or NIU campus. The way I see it, more tradition is a good thing.

I think Diesel High Fiving would be awesome on campus as well, that way students could see him and think NIU football away from Husie Stadium. Again, tradition.....

Kind of like Touchdown Jesus. High-Fiving Diesel. Probably an oil company could help finance a real fancy one (seriously).

What did the agnostic, dyslexic, insomniac do last night? Stayed up all night wondering if there really was a dog.

Myth: Dyslexic children see things backward (i.e., writing letters and words backward) and reversals are an invariable sign of the disability.
Fact: Many young children reverse letters when learning to write. While it is true that dyslexic children have difficulties attaching the appropriate labels or names to letters and words, there is no evidence that they actually see letters and words backward.
