Inductchuck16, this is spot on, in fact they have done a nice job will all renovations and additions. Renovations dollars can go very far when you aren't building a new structure and so far MOB and team have been pretty spot on cost wise with all of their past projects. This is great news! Another thing a UT dining facility will a full kitchen can offer is the ability to prepare much better food items for the entire stadium during games including the suites. Also with the new University President coming on board that said 50% of her time would be spent raising money I am very optimistic this happens and quickly. I just read that the UT Foundations overall assets grew almost 20% last year, so things are headed in the right direction. Finally can re-title this thread as Glass Bowl renovation project 2016? I think it would get a lot more hits and discussion?

MOB said by August 2016.......the amount of money in question is not a ton but its not peanuts either. Someone like the Sullivan's or Fetterman's could donate the entire amount and we are there, which would not surprise me.
With a year in, any feedback on how the new Larimer is working? Haven't seen anything. Ideas where they'd put a "dining facility?" Maybe they're talking about converting that whole east underneath, put essentially a building in there? Kitchen and dining on the outside, concessions booths on the field side? Seems a little cramped but it might work.

Aw man! It looks like it would just be a redo of the underside of the east stands. I was hoping they would tear down the east side stands and redo those. I wish they would move the stands forward and overhang the lower level seats by a row or 2. They could also add outdoor suites like the Mud Hens have. But that would cost a ton.
Seems like they're talking about putting everything under the east stands (kitchen facility, concessions, new restrooms, Rocket shop).

I would hate to see them work on the east side and not address the light standards in FRONT of the stands.
Dear MOB letter coming
I agree that this needs to be done but I am hopeful that UT is keeping the big picture in mind. Lighting is going to need to be addressed to improve the TV appearance. Some day we need to update the east side but it needs to be kept in mind with these renovations. My 2018 thought was a real renovation

Please think bigger when you do this MOB

Bingo or at least plan so as to not interfere with moving those in the future in mind.

Redoing half the stadium would be an enormous task in these budget years with all the other university needs.

I think "just a redo" of the underside is a big deal and am looking forward to what they come up with. ANYTHING that's brighter and more blood pumping for the game will be a win. Hope they don't get too caught up in pragmatics and consider saving a bit for the atmosphere created. They did such a good job with that at the b-ball arena. You can get really pumped walking by the gym, seeing all the history....

My wish list would be something more futuristic, as if it were alums 30-50 years in the future looking at UT history.

My alum arena has video boards playing old clips, showing the history..., These are cheap to do now a days, I would like to see something like that, something maybe even in a futuristic setting, artistic using stainless or ceramics, LEDs or neons...

If I had the $$$, I'd use the 3-D imaging tech they have over the medical college, find old images and videos of UT sports and combine them for people to walk through. THAT would be a museum.
Like to see new lighting, permanent eastside seating, covered party deck.

I'm not sure what you mean by permanent eastside seating? Isn't the whole east side permanent?

That party deck sounds cool, with sun lamps and fake palm trees. Netting all around for anyone that falls off.

I believe he's referring to the hastily built and ill-conceived upper deck. I,too would love to see something less high schooling replace those stands.

High school? Ball State, NIU, and Kent have high school visiting sides... Not us. Sure its outdated, but not high school like a all. Thats built on solid concrete, not pure aluminum.

People complained about how cheesy it looked when it was built. It hasn't improved.

A complete paint job on the exposed beams would help. For years the middle section was dark blue with the south and north sections untouched and fading out, eventually showing a lot of rust. Cheesy, drab, and incomplete would summarize the overall appearance of the east deck. Sounds like that may change, hopefully. 04-cheers

I have been to several FSU games and once you walk in underneath the stands you basically have a the same version of our East side stands, steel beams galore and nothing fancy, but the outside was all bricked and looks amazing. MOB said to make it look better or something to that effect.

My guess is the deck will stay the same other than maybe a paint job. Too expensive to remove and change it substantially. Can't remember whether it was installed in two or three sections over time. I would like to see a remote controlled HD television camera installed at the top so that during broadcasts we could get good shots of the west stands and press box instead of the often sparsely populated east stands.
Jack up the seats and push them forward
