LaTech beats Texas A&M, 84-72 at Texas A&M
ODU beats Illinois State, 50-49 at ODU
57% FT shooter, Illinois State player was at the line down one with 4 seconds to go. Missed both free throws. That had to hurt.
Reminds me of the Memphis player that clanked the free throws vs Louisville to seal their NIT fate about a decade ago.
I saw that! Good going Bulldogs and Monarchs!

Except he missed three... Likely saving our tournament chances that year.
Anyone know how much NIT credits are worth to the conference?

I'm assuming the above is in jest, otherwise I had no idea the NIT was worth anything of monetary value. It's not a bad tournament though! Most ODU fans, including myself, are certainly enjoying it - plus, the tv airtime is always nice.

No doubt! Definitely wasn't saying that in jest or trying to be rude. I was under the impression there was still a monetary pay out for advancing in the NIT, but maybe I'm wrong.
at least in 2009 NIT revenue was not shared

Interestingly, NCAA tournament payout is by games played (minus championship) over the past 6 years. Each year the NCAA determines a 'per game' payout, multiplies it by games played in the past 6 years, then distributes the money. Which means a conference which never won a game would get 6 games worth of payout each year.

Knowing this (and that the 'per game' payout goes up each year), the UAB win over Iowa state (allowing us to play in the next game) will net CUSA 1.65 million dollars over the next 6 years.

I think CUSA will be reluctant to kick us out this year if they think we can make a run in the tournament next year. Every at large or game won is worth another 1.65 million dollars over 6 years. (will actually be higher for games won next year). If they wait until after to kick us out they get to keep all that money.

Note: if we go to a new conference we do not take the payout with us. The payout is to the conference.

I can't find anything but hopefully it's worth something to CUSA.
The real money comes in the NIT semifinals.

Miami is the first Semi Finalist.
Vandy vs Stanford
Old Dominion vs Murray State
La Tech vs Temple

Are the final games to decide who goes to NY.
Saw the following about NIT finances while looking at the Murray State boards:

Both are over 4 years old so I'm not sure how accurate it is.
I suppose a CUSA winner is good. They'll have experience next year when they play in it again after we dominate the conference.
Isn't this where some idiot is supposed to ask if a long run in the NIT would be better than a one and done in the NCAA. Someone asks it every year and I have to slap em around.

What exactly is a one and done? UAB was a one and done this year, correct? I don't get it when people use one and done to mean a team that got in and lost their first game. Unless they mean it as one game and done versus one win and done.
Either way, making it into the NCAAs is always better.

One game and done.

Yes sir! I hope ODU is back very soon.
I'm really pulling for both of them. Murray State is going to be tough, but I have hope.

ODU was a game or two away from being in the NCAA, and La Tech was pretty good throughout the season. If the top of C-USA get even a little better, then I'm sure there will be more than on C-USA team in the NCAA tournament next year.
