Careful to jump to conclusion. Mackin "IS" real UAB and if you ask any of those who took the stage honoring Bill Clark and UAB Football, including Bill, they will tell you the same. I wasn't there, either, but I sure wanted to be. You see, I was at UAB when Athletics began and I was a part of it. Bryan was there, too. He was a baseball player working his way through college on scholarship. Believe me, this is all just as important to Brian as it is to you or me or anyone who is UAB. I will be the first to step forward and stick up for Brian Mackin. Please refrain from trying to knock him down. Brian is a victim, just like the 2014 UAB Football Team, and certainly not one of the perpetrators, like Watts and "you don't know what(who) you don't know".

Not true. Because I did exactly that.

I'll just leave it at that.

In a discussion I had with a family member of Brian's, I really got the sense that he is a "real UAB person" and that he was essentially powerless to do anything to mitigate what has happened.

at least, for his sake, he's getting paid a lot more to be a victim than most folks are

If I was his family, I would probably want to believe the same thing. The difference is that while he might have been somewhat powerless before, he has power now. He could truly blow this thing wide open if he was willing to testify about what he knew. The fact that he isn't and hasn't even made a comment whatsoever makes me question everything I previously thought that Brian stood for.
The better question is, was Shannon Ealy there? I don't think discussing Mackin positively or negatively does us any good anymore.
Mackin took the money & ran. Doesn't matter what he thought or did prior to that.

Ealy was not handing out the game balls at the MBB game yesterday, not sure what was going on.

Some guy I had never even heard of from IMG was presented the game balls.
Shannon Ealy was at the event at Iron City. I cant remember whether I saw him at the FIU basketball game before the event or not. He certainly was at the game on Thursday.

He will arrive via armored SUV, accompanied by UAB SWAT, and then helicoptered out immediately upon presentation of the award. All attendees will have to pass through metal detectors and undergo full body scans prior to entering the premises.

Ealy was at the bball game and at Iron City as were other athletic department employees.

It was nice to see Coach Haase and his wife at the event.
Does anyone have or can post the highlight tape of the 2014 season that was shown at the event last night? I have heard great things about it and would like to see it.

If, in fact, after the review and football is reinstated within the next six to eight months, he would have over a year to recruit almost an entire new team. He could very well sign a stellar team for 2016.
