I'm still not convinced that Hasse will be here next year. I'm almost willing to bet that he's already started looking for a different job.

Last year's seniors were not that talented. None of them were nothing more than role players looking for a leader. The one year they shone was in 2011 when they had a leader on the court in Aaron Johnson. He made everyone better. That was the difference between AJ and Chad. AJ made everyone better. Chad demanded the ball in order to be good. This year, we have neither.

Yep.

Cam's role was bigger. We haven't had a guy like him in some years that was 2010 right? I see alot of guys love to reference aj like he was the team. Chad did his job he couldn't do everything while learning the job but he was better in one year. Aj gets the nod I guess for being a true point for some, I would take Norton and Chad at point over aj any day.

AJ either purposely played less of a scoring threat in order to allow others to score or he blossomed late. Remember he went off for 32 in one of his last games, blus he has been more of a scorer in the pros.

I would take AJ for his leadership skills. I didn't see those type of skills in Chad. Of course, Norton hasn't blossomed yet, but there is potential.

Except AJ didn't really play with last year's seniors.

Purifoy and Williams played with him. I don't think it is any coincidence that Purifoy's best year was his freshman year.

AJ's 32 pt game was our garbage performance against ECU as the 1 seed in El Paso. It was a disater seeding. We had beat them a week before for the 2nd time of the season to clinch the regular season title. Beat a team 3 times in a row and twice in a week is a bad beat. Morrow was a beast.

There are absolutely no excuses for that loss. We were clearly much better than ECU. It just went along with mike Davis's long line of CUSA Tourney duds.

I traveled all the way to El Paso for that loss. It has been one of the hardest for me.

Your post made me want to compare the freshmen seasons of some our recent prominent point guards. I didn't include Chad because he was a junior, and I excluded PD3 since he didn't play much his freshman season. However, I included Squeaky as he was a sophomore transfer.

Even though eleven games is a small sample, Norton compares very favorably to some of the UAB greats. Hopefully, he continues improving with each season.

Also j sanders was apart of that sqaud right? Underrated blazer I saw sanders style of play in chad.

AJ had a horrible freshman year. He came into his own late sophomore or early junior year.

AJ definitely played on better teams(Elijah Millsap, Jamarr Sanders, Cam Moore), but I would still take AJ over Chad. AJ wasn't the natural scorer that Chad was, but AJ was a one-man press who could completely disrupt the other team's half-court sets.

Chad played the (old)Kobe System style of basketball. Volume shooter, no defense, pass when you can't find a shot.

Give me the better player in Chad.

One man press breaker don't matter to me.

Ok, you get the bad team chemistry that comes with him too.

And I seriously question whether he is the better player.
