Does anyone know the status on Rimmer? Is there a deadline for the NCAA to decide on the 6th year exemption or not?

NCAA has no set timetable. Saw where they approved a 6th year waiver this week, in article on NC State's Terry Henderson who is, also, waiting on a waiver decision.

It will a long season next year. Until we decide to go after, and sign, players who are students as opposed to students who may be players; this will be our fate.

I disagree. Players emerge and team chemistry and consistency may be better.

This may appear to be counterintuitive to you. There are no guarantees that players will emerge. You would think they would but they don't. Their development stalls.
Nothing counterintuitive...Big difference between "will" and may.

Being a player and a student are not exclusive relative to priority. We have been recruiting strong talent for the last 8 years.

I also disagree. CofC is the obvious favorite, but the conference looks wide open in my eyes.
You are basing your thoughts on W&M by what has graduated/transferred. Sure, they will miss the dynamic seniors, but the cupboard is far from bare. Think about how much experience the tribe bring back. Perimeter shooting will be strong. Knight is already probably in the top 2 or 3 bigs in the CAA. By all accounts Milon can step in and produce. I look for Malinowski to step into a larger leadership role. As a senior, this is David Cohn's team. I think his fire will push the engine and he will get guys involved. I think Pierce will become more consistent and reliable. I think the 2 freshmen can contribute- especially Loewe who can still push tempo and produce coming of the bench.

The big questions are now:
1) Who steps up as the guy when you need a bucket? Is it Nathan Knight? Seniors Malinowski or Cohn? The unknown in Matt Milon?

2) Do they have a serviceable big to spell Knight? Can Rowley be that mismatch stretch 4? Will they get that elusive 2017 last minute big or grad transfer? Schuyler, even coming off the bench, would help a great deal.

Sure that is a lot of what ifs and conjecture, but every team is dealing with that.

1) We will miss Dixon and Prewitt, but someone will step up. Millon is supposed be a sharp shooter.
2) We do need 1 or 2 big hopefully 2. I cannot imagine Rowley being 4. Rowley is deadly from 3s, but has no inside move/game.
That's what makes a horse race! I hope I'm wrong.

Coach Holmes following Nigerian born 6'9 forward  Gregory Mike Eboigbodin out of Michigan. Interesting since he signed his NLI to UIC back in November. For whatever reason, they must have released him from his obligation.
He is long, raw, and athletic. Considered one of the best defensive posts in the state. Opportunistic scorer, but more of a shot blocker and rebounder. Slim, but looks like he has a frame that could handle more weight.

Not sure of his deal, but he would be a fantastic late signing and would bolster our inside play.

He apparently asked for and received his release on April 17th. UIC message board very upset because Eboigbodin was recruited by UIC asst Chin Coleman who was hired as new asst at Illinois on April 12th. They smell Eboigbodin possibly ending up at Illinois. Illinois has 4 slots still available and only one big man, so, looks about right.
Sounds like a longshot for us to effect a detour.

All very true. There was also talk, though I'm not buying it, that a possible condition of the release was that he couldn't follow coach Coleman to Illinois.

My only questions are if Illinois is such a done deal, why no commitment yet? If it is an Illinois slam dunk, why would coach Holmes even get in the mix this late?

My thought is that his tie to UIC was Coleman. Once he left, Ebo wanted out. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is a current Illinois target. Now, it won't shock me if he winds up there, just that it's more than a sure thing, IMO.

Same reason Bryce didn't immediately commit to NC State, by giving some false cover that the coach didn't encourage a recruit to follow. In addition, his fellow HS teammate/best friend signed with Marquette, and his AAU PG signed with Michigan St, so, he may be seeing if anything opens up there. Tribe staff, though, have to turn over every stone at this point. Would be more encouraged if Eboigbodin had followed back, but he hasn't.

Here is hoping that we get pleasantly surprised today ...
Tick-tock...

Ha! Love it.
Austin Shaver has started to follow forward Evan Jester (6'7" 185lbs - Tyrone, GA). Offers from Lees-McRae, Tampa, Morehead State, and Alcorn State.

Looks like GA Tech might be late to the party, also.
