Hawk looks to be getting paid. After getting a 4-year $12M+ offer from the Browns, the Bengals are reportedly going to match it. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...o_mat.html

Good to see he's getting paid. That piddling $1.4 mill certainly didn't qualify as pay.
Good for Hawk! Probably best he stays in Cinci anyway. The Browns would probably hire him then in about 3 weeks cut him.

This is not the first time the Browns have had second thoughts about Rocket talent that they initially let get away. In the 2002 draft the Browns wasted a first round pick on William Green, a RB out of Boston College when they could have picked up Chester Taylor in a later round for a song (he went to Baltimore in the 6th round). After a solid, but not fantastic, rookie year Green succumbed to a number of personal problems and injuries from which his career never recovered, so when Chester became a restricted free agent a few years later, Cleveland made him an offer which Baltimore (like Cincinnati with Hawkins) matched and it was once again back to the drawing board for the Brownies.
Barry Church to receive Ed Block Courage Award: http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/p...lock-award
Also, reported that the Browns paid Greco's $1.7M roster bonus, so it would seem that they intend on keeping him. Some people had predicted they would release him rather than ponying up the bonus.

And reports are that Lance is going to visit the Steelers Tuesday. Possible return to the days of Gradkowski-to-Moore?

That is truly incredible!

Only Barry could play in games he missed. Bet he drinks Dos Equis when he drinks beer.

He also deserves the Dr. Emmett Brown Award!
Looks like Hawk is officially a Brown. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...8a5b561f98

As a Browns fan, I like signing him as they desperately need a reliable slot/3rd down receiver, but I can't understand how much they were willing to spend given all the needs they had it just seems a bit of a stretch to spend so much ... but what do I know.
Saw a news article in my inbox today that Jermaine Robinson signed with the Ottawa Redblacks. My first reaction ... what the heck is a Redblack? Apparently they are really a CFL team. Ottawa was awarded a franchise in 2008, but they haven''t played a game yet, apparently mostly due to stadium problems. From wikipedia:

Quote: The team planned to begin play in 2010, until cracks in the concrete structure in the south stands of Frank Clair Stadium led to the demolition of those stands; the league later set a date of 2013 for the team's debut, but lawsuits forced the delay of construction on the stadium to be pushed back even further.

Well good luck to Jermaine. Here's the article about his signing:

If you've ever gone to an NIU football game, you would know what a Redblack is. It is a person who roams from the east stands to the west stands rather than staying in the same seat. *They have the most epic chant there...it goes something like "Red!" "Black" then "Red" "Black" then "Red" "Black" etc. etc. and then all the fans high-five each other for their creativity and ability to come up with a chant that has some meaning somewhere.

*Actually I'm just kidding. This chant is probably one of the dumbest chants I've ever heard rather than being epic. It's like one side of the stands is fighting with the other over which color is better (red or black).

---you mean back and forth kinda like: "TOL"...."EDO" where the N & W stands are fighting with the S & E stands to see who can be the loudest and thus get a chance for some free tee shirts? 05-stirthepot

Yeah, but our chant is cool. Theirs is dumb.

I see what you are saying but I equate our TOL and EDOs with the Ohio State guys' OH and IOs. Rather than argue over whether TOL is better than EDO, we are courteous and don't leave our Rocket brothers hanging after the TOL. I would equate a chant of "Blue" and "Gold" where we were seemingly arguing with each other over which color is better like a bunch of idiots with their "charguments." 04-cheers
They know their colors. We can actually spell.
For some reason I thought he was staying in Cinci.

This piece was probably filmed after Hawkins signed with Cleveland but before Cinci exercised their rights to match the Cleveland offer and resign Hawkins (as Hawkins was a RESTRICTED free agent).
