I don't blame the kid, I blame Pastner. If we were ranked pre-season top 15 every year and finished in the top 15 every year we wouldn't be talking about committing to Baylor. We would be talking about committing to the Tigers.

BIG Loss

Thank God you don't hold yourself to the same standard you hold Pastner to. Your boyfriend would have to keep the daisy razors stored under lock and key.

Jarnell Stokes signing elsewhere was a product of a strange situation. JuJuan Johnson got passed over BY the Tigers, he did not pass over the Tigers. Hubbs isn't a Memphis kid. Step outside of Shelby County and the mystique of playing for the Tigers evaporates. Nichols hasn't committed anywhere yet. We'll discuss him when the time comes. Black didn't grow up in Memphis and has never been discussed as a lock by ANY means.

You and the rest of the doomsayers are having a knee-jerk reaction that is so typical of your run-of-the-mill, irrational sports fan. When the short-term situation isn't exactly how you envisioned it (which is nothing short of a picture perfect scenario) you choose to ignore the long-term success. Hell, we have a top 5 class according to some...you're ignoring the CURRENT success. I'm sorry, but it's childish. A child throws a fit when something doesn't go EXACTLY their way. Same thing you are doing.

aka. Pastner's Top 100 crew.

Ferrakohn and Geron were top-100 as well. Stan may have been right there as well.

If someone had told me after Cal left that, going into his 4th season replacing Cal, the new coach would be coming off back-to-back CUSA championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, and have a preseason top-15 team featuring 3 McDonald's AA's and 4 or 5-star players at every position (and coming off the bench).. Maybe it's just me, but I'd have been pretty happy with that future.

I and most others would have thought that person was crazy. I have made this point numerous times but it falls on deaf ears with the miserables.

Now if we had a coach that could do something with all that talent id be pumped it. Instead I'm wondering who gets the first case of tendinitis this year.

Calipari took 4-5*'s and a lottery pick to the NIT...I know you think Josh is supposed to be Boeheim after three years but most of the rest of us understand a bit more....of course, unlike you we also don't have a sign next to the bed stating 'socks first THEN shoes'. My advice? Try breathing oxygen for a change.
Thank........God that cybertiger, bj, cdr(tigers didn't exist before cal) and others with that mindset aren't running the program or we'd be In the same spot as the knee jerk reaction ewetee vawl football fans.

Finch couldn't recruit anyone his last couple of years. Cal hardly recruited any Memphis kids. Pastner has recruited a pile of 5 and 4 star recruits outside the city. Pastner just got commits from King and Markel.

Aside from every word you typed, your post makes a lot of sense.

So it's his fault we can't advance in the tourney, right?

There might be a handful of coaches on the entire planet that would have been able to turn the program around as fast as Pastner. NONE of them...ZERO would have taken the job.

Scott Drew has two Elite 8's in the last 3 years and you never hear his name brought up in connection with any open job; yet he was begging for the Memphis job.

There are exactly 2 people on the entire planet who would be stupid enough to hire Scott Drew. The other one is RC Johnson.

You've made it clear you think pastner can recruit. In that same breath you've made it clear you don't think he can coach. How else can you explain no tourney wins with all those 4 and 5 star recruits you're clamoring over?

What a major shot you just took at the coach you love. I hope you two dont share daisy razors.

you seem so sure that winning (or the inability to win) is the reason we lost out on Leron. My question to you is, how do you know Leron? If you don't know him, who have you talked to that does know him? If you can't come up with an answer to either one of those questions, STFU! You don't sound smart or informed, you sound like an idiot. I'm not saying winning games wouldn't help us in recruiting, no one argues that, but that's not why we lost out here. To imply such a thing makes you look ignorant.

cdrtiger blames Pastner for all that is wrong in this world. Read his posts. I'm not sure if his idiocy has been lifelong or was a result of his balls never dropping as a teen.

I'm not trying to pump sun (anyone who knows me knows I am brutally honest) but we are truly lucky to have Josh as our coach. The situation we found ourselves in 2009 could have set this program back decades, Josh didn't let that happen. Josh kept us at a high level, even without a top 25 W. So anyone who blames Josh is an idiot. Sure, he's made some youthful mistakes, but we knew he would when we hired him as a 33 year old coach with NO EXPERIENCE!
(09-20-2012 08:16 PM)CyberTiger Wrote: [ -> ]No doubt. Cause if he didn't accept we would have hired Terry tippet.

RC tried to hire Leonard Hamilton but the boosters wouldn't give him enough money. Our boosters began the process talking to guys like Pitino. RC just couldn't do the right thing and take a nap. He jumped in and started trying to talk to Hamilton, Drew, and Floyd.
