Thanks for the update.
Per KCNC, suspect in custody is an Aurora, CO resident, James E. Holmes originally from San Diego. He was supposedly living in Aurora as a graduate student at the medical school at the University of Colorado and withdrew in June.
"Holmes, 24, wore what appeared to be a bullet-proof vest and riot-type mask as he opened fire in a movie theater with three weapons at a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." In addition to the 12 deaths, at least 50 people were injured, according to police."

It's just horrible when innocents are killed or injured, especially children. Very, very sad.
This is horrible.

If you hate your life enough to do something like this just KILL YOURSELF. Why hurt innocent people when the person you really hate is looking at you in the mirror.

He wasn't suicidal, cuz he didn't take the opportunity to kill himself. He obviously wanted attention, which he has now.
Now we're going to waste money as he sits in jail when he ought to be put down.
I just don't get how people can do this. My wife told me about it this morning and said that there was a 6 year old victim. Just terrible.
Man, I just saw this. My son and his friends went to the midnight showing last night. How awful. I have a hunch James will regret not pulling the trigger on himself before it's all said and done.

CNN is reporting a three month old baby was shot too (why a three month old was at a midnight showing of a movie is another matter), very tragic. Sounds like the guy had planned to get away, but the police got there sooner than he expected. The piece of **** was probably going to go home and masturbate about it while everyone else tried to make sense of it.
They are now saying his apartment is booby trapped. Hopefully no one else gets hurt because of this guy.

Baby was probably asleep while his parent(s) went to see the movie and had no sitter.

I wouldn't be as concerned about that as having the six year old there to watch the movie... But I guess it is July and there is no school tomorrow.
What type of parent takes a 3 month old to a movie theater even if no sitter is available?

That's what I was trying to figure out, but I didn't want to sidetrack the discussion. I've been to a few movies when a baby wakes up, it's rude to everyone else and one of the parents always ends up in the lobby for half the movie trying to get the kid to go back to sleep. They should have waited to see it when they had a sitter, seems like a very immature decision on their part.

That said, no parents, regardless of their lack of parenting skills, should have to suffer through something like this. My annoyance is not equal to their tragedy.
