Separately a new video board will be installed for next year. If you've ever been to Reckling the "hospitality area" funded by this will be a permanent version of the tented "Roost" that serves alcohol.

Good for you owls. Heard you are bringing in 4k cameras to stream the games and if that's true then Brava!! On a side note we got a 35 MM donation last week for a art museum on campus. I wish it was for FB stadium which would have helped us to get started on our new FB Stadium Phase2 .

Correct, the 4K camera info is here https://www.productionhub.com/press-rele...gy-upgrade

Looks like the video board will be 1080p LED. Just starting to go up.

Our new art exhibit building is just finishing up for a $20M price tag I believe. http://www.mmaltzan.com/projects/rice-un...-the-arts/

At least those are much better than the $50 million "leadership institute" that was donated which doesn't actually consist of a physical building.

This is the area of the park that sells alcohol and has cornhole. It can get pretty full for night games. I just wish we had more of them.

Posted this on AAC board's Rice thread yesterday, in response to some of their comments about Rice's "YMCA-like" facilities. That is incorrect, of course, although it was probably true 20 years ago:

The AAC needs someone who does

We do now:

$32 million spent this year (all paid for in advance) just on new End Zone Facility (replacing old north seating stands) including coaches offices, weight room, training and therapy areas, players locker rooms and lounge, players meeting auditorium, and more says you're mistaken:

Also, $23 million complete recent renovation and expansion of Basketball facility Tudor Fieldhouse:

Reckling Park, one of the nation's premier modern college baseball stadiums, seating 7,000 +, 9 suites, spacious press box and radio spaces and host to many NCAA Regionals and Superregionals as well as the 20003 National baseball Champion Rice Owls and scheduled for additional multi-million dollar expansion of facilities down third base line:

Brand-new $8 Million 120,000-sf, 14-court George R. Brown Tennis facility and Stadium Seating for 600+:

Brand-new $2 Million Wendel D. Ley Track & Holloway Field. The grandstand accommodates 1,500 people with a mixture of chairback and bleacher seating, as well as a new press box. The teams' building includes meeting rooms, a weight room and space for visiting teams, in addition to restrooms for fans.

Rice Aquatics Center Natatorium Size: 12,650-sf 50-meter completion pool Completion: 2009 Highlights: 8 lanes and 4 diving boards, 4-ft wide moveable bulkhead, 20 cross course lanes available

Rice in the last several years has dramatically upgraded its facilities and has been spending millions to get back to where it once was long ago. Additional phased renovations are planned for the football stadium including press box, seating areas and suites, concessions, bathrooms and more.

The $4 million project, funded by private donations and support from the university, will completely transform 13,000 square feet of the former recreation center at Tudor in addition to swimming pool area which served as the home of Rice Swimming for 58 years, but has been idle since the opening of the Rice Aquatics Center in 2009.

Virtual tour of our new practice facility

Looks like a parking garage. It's just an oversized pavillion. Interesting. That can't be very expensive, huh?
http://www.uab.edu/footballfacility/

From having nothing to having something we are all very happy. We made miracles with nothing. Just think what we can do with something.

The pavilion is between 4 and 5 mil. Overall facility improvement roughly 23 million.

Looks good to me. Pavilion feels like it'll keep the elements mostly out without spending a butt-ton of money for a fully indoor facility. Good use of money.

Glad to see UAB back to fielding a FB team again this season. When you get your own stadium things will really improve.
