No point of even bickering because both of the Georgia schools would be a decent addition given they find a way to afford it. I think I would personally prefer Georgia State because Atlanta is a nice little market and a fun trip for players and fans.

But Georgia Southern adds a lot of success and I like that. I rather see us add a team who is committed to winning instead of adding someone for their market.
Trojan, Georgia Southern also adds a well traveling rowdy fan base that has literally taken over an opposing teams stadium.

Close the thread? We haven't even brought up the loss to NAIA St Francis last year yet. Oops I just brought it up. I guess it can be closed now.

I brought up the other NAIA loss to Lambuth, I guess they didn't catch those guys napping and looking forward to a tough upcoming game against Lindsay Wilson College.

You would think these NAIA teams would be intimidated by the Ga Dome.

I hear the MAC may have a slot open next year.
How can you root for App State and ECU? That makes zero sense.

As for GSU Eagles...congrats beforehand oon your 7th, 8th and 9th FCS championships over the next 10 years. You're never ever moving up. Get over it. Go scream at your alumni. No matter how great your obsession with us it will not erase your deficiencies.

You would think so.....but I guess it is hard to be when all you see when you look up is empty seats and more points in your column on the scoreboard.....04-cheers

Ga Southern receives more in athletic donations than Ga State. $16 million of your budget is from student fees. I just wish they would go to the games to get some value of that money they will be carrying in student loan debt for years to come.

LOL! Si como no. You realize that you're down talking GSU while the real issue is that GaSouthern never threw their hat in the ring. Nothing you say here will change anything that's about to happen. I really hop you guys figure out how to accomplish this some day but it sure will not be 2013

What cracks me up Mr. Panama is your lack of humility for such a program still in its infancy, not to mention the fact that this seemingly obvious sense of FBS Conference entitlement simply based on media market, and size of institution. The Baby Hughey of college football.

There is no sense of entitlement. FBS was the plan before we purchased a football in 2008. You came on here and posted regarding your wish to move up on two Georgia State threads. I just pointed out some problems with your plan or lack thereof. You made this about Georgia State. I still don't get this need to follow us everywhere. Come up with a plan and just do it. The only things I pointed out are that you need 12k seats and a budget increase and that if you were part of this realignment cycle then most likely your president would have been contacting conferences months ago. I have not heard anyone in the know say that is the case.

Is there anyone committed to lose? History tells us that success in I-AA doesn't translate to success in I-A.

Please define your your idea of history of success in I-AA and I-A.
I am not doing this this morning. There is a whole other thread on here (Who would you PREFER to be the first added team?) where MTPiKapp does a good job of explaining. Basically winning in I-AA has nothing to do with what a school will do once they move to I-A. Furthermore, a majority of the schools involved in this realignment cycle had .500 or worse records in 2011. Realignment and moving up may be about many things, but what you did last year isn't one of them.

The point that I had made in the other thread, is looking around at our conference as it stands now, we were all in extremely different places 20 years ago, even ten years ago Troy had just joined the FBS ranks, WKU was still FCS, FAU and FIU had just started their programs and USA was years from even deciding to add football.

Taking a look around the current crop of expansion candidates you see the same thing, some who have just started football, some about to start football, some who are long time success at the FCS level, some who have had average programs at the FCS level.

Based on looking at what we've all achieved based on our different histories, it's pretty safe to assume that all of the current crop of candidates will achieve at least some modicum of success at the FBS level and it's highly likely what each one of them is capable of is relatively similar to the rest of the group. Is it possible there's a Boise State in the bunch? Sure it is, but it's unlikely and likewise it's unlikely there's any in the bunch that will just bomb out and be a bottomfeeder for two decades.

So now I'll say it again, as I have countless times before, all the candidates have their different strengths and weaknesses, but as I've stated, I don't believe any of them have a true leg up on the others for potential success at the next level save for maybe App State. With that being the case, I think the most prudent decision is to make sound geographical selections that are centrally located within each division. La Tech in the west, Georgia State in the east.

I can agree with App State as the first choice.

Which top programs in IAA have moved to IA to know how true that is? Marshall is the only top program that has moved up and they were very successful initially. The problem with them is that there is no talent in WV. Ga Southern, App State, Montana and Delaware are the top 4 programs historically and none of them have moved up.
