Any word as to how ticket sales are going for the Wisconsin game? Last I had heard was 40k had been sold. When I went on ticketmaster this morning it looks like there were some additional sales over the weekend, so it looks like interest is picking up. I still predict this game will sell out.
Is there a point that we have to hit to be profitable or have we already gone well past that point?

As soon as WD buys a ticket we are on the positive side of the line. Once that Purdue pocketbook comes to the game, the money flowing in will increase exponentially. Oh wait all that money went to build the fountain at the center of Purdue's campus!

Nah, its a good question HF84, Id guess there is already going to be some profit with the sales that have occurred, maybe not a big one. Would be interested to hear from someone in the know, and also someone who knows someone in the ticket office that can give an estimate of where sales are at.
If the average ticket price is $73, and the for arguments sake let's assume the first $1 million of proceeds go to the Park District, and the next $1 million go to Wisconsin, then breakeven attendance would be 27,397 ($2 million in payouts, divided by $73).

That's not factoring in other expenses including advertising, which is a large number.
73*61,500 = 4,489,500 - 2,000,000 = 2,489,500

Assuming a sellout we should profit nicely. Way better than getting $500 - 700K for playing at B1G stadium.

Huskie Stadium argument (4,489,500 - 1,000,000 SF fee)
3,489,500/24,000 = $145/seat (factor up or down based on HS actual capacity) this is if students had to pay.

It is not coming close to a sell out.
Hopefully JC will provide an honest update tomorrow during his web-chat. Hopefully something more than, "We're pleased with the ticket sales to date....."

How about if both teams are 2-0 heading into the game? Maybe any remaining tickets would be bought up if that were the scenario.

I hope so but doubtful. The problem is Wisconsin just has too many home games to start the year off and a looming date with Nebraska after our game. Just too many opportunities to see their team and Badger fans are not excited to be playing the Huskies. Camp Randall is basically a pro-like venue so the novelty of them playing there just does not hit home like we would hope. I think we will have 40k on hand.
Haha Wisconsin's fans are a joke. Iowa sold out the first game in like two weeks.

Wisconsin fans like spending a long weekend in Chicago.

Wisconsin fans like spending long weekends in Wisconsin where they can wake up, kill something, cook it, watch football, go to bed, wake up, kill something, eat it. Throw in some cheese curd, a lot of beer and a body of water and they are content. I would be too.
Wisconsin fans are NOT GB Packer fans fellas.

Many of the Badgers will come from across the land (and right here in Chicago) with sushi and the 4 Seasons in mind. The students are mostly upper tier partiers that eat closer to vegan than brat. Madison is a liberal enclave of intellectuals...the Austin of Wisconsin.

For better or worse of course.
Wisconsin fans are assclowns. Been to two games up there in last 5 years and I have yet to meet a more annoying, arrogant, loud mouth, fat fan base.

It's a fanbase full of idiots.

Sure you weren't at the Iowa Soldier Field Game?

Having experienced both, I have to give the nod to them....03-nutkick

Where does the average ticket price come from? If we're selling them for $25 to students plus they get one free, the real average price has to be quite a bit less.
