The only other D1 programs are Buffalo and Cornell for football and when I lived there, every Saturday ABC showed a Big 10 game (mostly Ohio State and Eddie George).

Ok, if they're already broadcasting the Big 10 to that area, what does Syracuse have to offer?

In Buffalo at least, it's a tough place to sell even the highest level of college football. BCS Bowl ratings are horrible. The best of 2010 was BSU-TCU with a 4 share. UB drew the highest-rated college football game ever with the '09 I-Bowl (16 share). For many Bills backers, the Big 10 may as well be the PAC 10. As it is on basic, ESPN/2 here has Big 10 games, MSG shows SEC Network, Big 12, PAC 10 feeds. ESPN+ shows BE Game of the Week on the CW station. UB and MAC games are on Time-Warner Sportsnet.

I'm not sure if Syracuse to the Big 10 would get the Big 10 Network dropped down to basic in the Buffalo market. Perhaps. Funny thing is, I recall the Big 10 Network being dropped down here to basic viewers for only 2 games; EMU at NW, and CMU at Purdue. For the people at T-W, Buffalo is primarily a MAC market 04-rock

When all of this is done, The Mac may be one of the very few conf with little to no turnover.03-idea

Acc is not going to expand. It makes sense for big 10 because they have their own TV network. It wont work for ACC nor SEC. BE will maintain its auto bid. Only question is will they still be a hybrid or a new all sports conf. I tend to think it will be a hybrid. If they lose ND plus 2 or 3 others, the FB side really needs to presure the BB side to accept a 9-7 split. U add how ever many you need to get to 9 fb teams. U will lose some tv $$$ but keep auto bid.

Which as I have explained is going to greatly benefit the MAC.

If you take KC or myself as representing the whole of MACBBS, your opinion might become slightly skewed.

Looong shot, but if what I've read comes true and the Big 12 implodes (Nebraska & Missouri to Big 10, Texas, A&M, Colorado to PAC10, OU & OSU to SEC 01-wingedeagle) I hope the MAC contacts Iowa State.

Northern Illinois could be their rival. 03-phew
just heard on ESPN Radio's "The Herd" ... todays rumor is UConn to the Big10 to be the 12th member.

Why? What does the Big Ten possibly get from UConn that would make them the most desirable 12th member?

I have no idea...maybe the thinking is..If you get UConn in your pocket, you get ESPN too???

They already have ESPN.

This strikes me, if true, as only part of the deal. If they're going after UConn, they're also bringing in two more teams. UConn doesn't get it done on its own.

ESPN does reserve the right to re-negotiate a contract if conference membership changes significantly. Adding only one new team won't change it, but addig three or five and suddenly the Big Ten can re-negotiate for even more money.

Syracuse in the Big-10 gets the network in WNY, including Buffalo. No way does it stop at Rochester. Gorwing up in Buffalo there were a ton of SU fans (this was back when UB was D3) . TW would keep the MAC and add Big-10 for sure..
Well, the BCS meetings are happening right now.

Everybody's watching Jim Delaney to see who he talks to. He makes a great movie villain, stealing the show. I'm not sure who the protagonist would be, though.

Yes, I heard that on the radio as well.

UConn makes sense: it's close to NYC, and there's money in the area. One thing though, someone here said that expansion has to be w/ a state contiguous to Big 10 states. Conn doesn't fit that, and Cowherd made no mention of it.

Syracuse: upstate NY is a dying area. People are leaving, money is flowing out. They bring very little to the Big 10.

Cowherd thought they'd expand past UConn...he suggested Rutgers and Pitt.

Also, he was emphatic that the Pac 10 will expand. He said Utah was a done deal, and he thought Colorado would go. No explanation how the Pac 12 was better than the Big 12.

He then thought TCU might be the team to replace Colorado...but didn't have any certainty.

I know the PAC-10 feels compelled to make a preemptive strike East for expansion.

The question is where would this leave the Big XII? Would any raid be enough to force the hand of Texas into another conference?

UConn to the Big Ten would probably be a better choice than Boston College considering UConn has much stronger men's basketball.

The population of Connecticut is about the same as what can be found in Upstate New York. There is a lot of money in Connecticut too. They have much more potential to get up to Big Ten crowd levels than BC or Syracuse.

UConn, Rutgers, ND to the Big Ten....I like it.

Big Ten East: UConn, Rutgers, Penn St, MI st., ND, Purdue, NW
Big Ten West: Ohio ST, MI, Indiana, Illinios, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota

OR throw in Missouri and Syracuse:

Big Ten East: UConn, Rutgers, Penn St, Syracuse, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan St, ND

Big Ten West: IN, Purdue, IL, NW, Minn, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri
I don't care much about trying to guess who will be where, but what I do know is that the PAC-10 needs to add 2 teams so it can be 12-PAC.

HOW DO YOU NOT SEE TEH KRAZY?

The reason I have Butler pegged for the Big East is because they'll be back filling for Notre Dame if they leave to bring the Indy market plus they just made it to the national championship game this past year.

Its a stretch and unusual idea for a school to go straight from the Horizon to the Big East but I think its not improbable depending on what happens. Maybe the basketball schools will split so who knows.

There are no protagonists at a BCS meeting. It's like when the Legion of Doom meets.

looks like the Big East is getting proactive. They might make a move to pre-empt the Big Ten. Interesting that their commissioner mentioned UCF by name.
