I'm sure this has been asked, but what are you guys hearing about these two? If you land these two that will be the top 3 recruits (by rivals) in the country going to Memphis. That's beyond sick.
If you take UAB out of the equation, Memphis and NC State have to be considered to be the teams that have made the most progress with Cousins.

BUT, his recruitment is far from over in terms of time. Lots can happen.
I'm just guessing, but better with Wall than Cousins as far as I know. People with good Memphis info have sent positive signals about Wall for a couple of months now... no sure thing obviously. With Cousins, there have not been the same vibes. Mostly reports about the staff working hard to land him.
It's funny you should ask this. Seeing as just a moment ago I opened a thread at ESPN that said Wall had cut his list to 3, and Memphis was out. Of course he provided no link or info to back his claim up. Oh, and he is supposedly a Duke fan.
I like our chances with both...

I like what you are sayin, and I like the avatar as well. 04-rock
I am sure that Cousins is being fed a steady diet of Memphis is a guard school and not a place for big men. At least they can't say that with Wall.
It was reported that when DC reopened his recruitment, Cal was the first coach that DC called. And Cal was the first coach to visit him. If true as reported, I would think we are not taking a backseat to any other team.

Wall has said for a while now that he wanted to be a Tiger. Some close to him and the situation corroborate this as well. The question is whether other outside interests will prevail.

Many things can happen between now and April to influence or direct a decision by either of these guys, but I like our chances with them both. Captain Obvious would state that if we had them both that we would have a really good shot at the National Championship, but of course, how many teams would have a great shot?
Wall - the names I keep hearing are NC State, Duke, Baylor & Memphis. I have heard Baylor is out & I have also heard NC State is probably out of the running. Everything I have read has said Memphis is the apparent leader. Duke is late starting & therefore has a TON of ground to make up (not easy to do with recruits). Memphis will definitely be 1 of his final 2 & I would say we are the apparent leader right now.

Cousins is entirely different. He seems to be a crapshoot at this point, but I also heard that Cal was the first coach that he talked to after opening up his recruitment. That bodes very well. If you notice, his list includes UAB, Alabama, NC State, Memphis & Washington (last I read). 3 of those schools are fairly close to home, except for Washington (where did they come from, by the way). If he wants to stay close to home, I really like our chances if he decides not to go to UAB. NC State is much further away & is not as good of a program. We are definitely in his top 3. That is about as good as we can get right now. The staff just needs to bring him home.

"It was mentioned as well during the press conference that the Jackets are hoping to land John Wall, the number one point guard in the country. That seems unlikely though -- Wall and Favors only had Memphis as a common recruiting link."

Not sure where that came from. Did Derrick say it? In any case, GT has less of a chance at Wall as Memphis did with Favors.

I was hoping to win the lottery but I have never bought a ticket. GT has as much chance of getting Wall.
We are looking great with both and everything is right on track!! April cant get here soon enough!
At the bottom of ESPN it says Cousins top 5 are Memphis, NC State, Washington, Texas, and Kentucky. This is the first I've heard that Texas and Kentucky are in the mix.
Not to worry,all is well.
Ya'll do know that Wall loves hangin' wit his Cousins right ????? 03-shhhh
According to NCAA rules as to dates, who has to make a decision first: Tyreke to NBA or Wall to Memphis? By that I mean does Tyreke have to declare for the draft according to the rules before the April signing period? I bring this up because there is a possibility Wall might want to know for sure that Tyreke is not going to stay for another year before he would sign with us.

Just wondering....

Do we HAVE to have one without the other? Maybe Evans stays another year, it's not impossible at this point.

You know CUSA coaches are having nightmares about the possibility of this starting lineup at Memphis:

PG Wall
SG X. Henry
SF T. Evans
PF. Coleman
C. Cousins

Throw in Niles, Taggert, Witherspoon, Kemp, Garcia, and Mack.... Oh man.
Quote:PG Wall
SG X. Henry
SF T. Evans
PF. Coleman
C. Cousins

Now THAT is a Dream Team!

Signing period for BBall is April 15th-May 20th. The NBA early entry deadline is April 26th. Withdrawal deadline is June 15th. So Wall CAN make it official first before Evans HAS to declare. Evans can still pull out of the Draft even after Wall has signed because the withdrawal deadline is after the close of the signing period. Does this answer your question? I have a funny feeling that Wall isn't too concerned about Evans. Infact, having Wall would allow Evans to move back to his natural wing position.

So right. My biggest concern is could Evans play without the ball.
