Cousins: Memphis is the leader
Posted by Dan Wolken
I just returned from Birmingham, where I went tonight to watch the DeMarcus Cousins-Derrick Favors game, which was also broadcast nationally on ESPN. It’s late, and I will have a full story on the Cousins situation in Saturday’s newspaper, but the 6-foot-11 center from Mobile, Ala., said emphatically tonight that Memphis is the leader in his recruitment. His coach at LeFlore High School, Otis Hughley, confirmed that Memphis is leading on Cousins and said he felt the Tigers would be hard to beat at this point in time.
This being my first time to see Cousins in person, I was surprised at how big he actually is. He really sees the court well for a big man, and some of the passes he made were Kevin Love-esque. He needs to get in better shape and will have to learn how to play hard all the time, but he’s a tremendous talent and a future pro without question.
