OK I cant take the negativity of this board without firing out some positives. You see I remember watching our TEAM destroy a pretty good Troy team at the Silicon Valley Bowl. I was there and it was a great memory....one I will never forget. Just because our team has had a very bad year so far does not mean we need to forget times like the above mentioned and call for lynchings.

So, with this in mind feel free to post some of your positive moments as a Huskie Football fan. At least it will give a us a thread to turn to to keep our chins up when reading the rest of the boards filled with sarcasm and negativity.
Bowling Green 2002, my first NIU game. What a great game to go to for my first game.

not my first game, but the game that turned NIU football from "fun, but just some side entertainment" to "this is an awesome fun experience-i want to be a diehard!"
The jailbreak to the zone by Wolfe which ignited NIU in SJ, CA is one of my many, many favorite thrills from Huskie football the past ten years.

So was his 70+ yard zig zag TD in Annie Arbor.

For me the joy following the win over MD was equivalent to reaching the HUSKIE HEAVENS !!!!
My wife was concerned once I got home and watched the game again that I was gonna cry like a baby when JoeN raised both hands afterwards in absolute exhaltation.

Someday soon we will again be enjoying more thrills from Huskie football.

I'm so glad my dad had an extra ticket for that game. He got me hooked.
When we beat Iowa State in 03'.

It was a game that pretty much proved to everyone we weren't a fluke team. We went out there, and willed a victory with Defense! It was an amazing game for those of you who forget!
W/o a doubt Maryland game my sophomore year. Freshman year I went to all the games and it was a good time, and the team was finally respectable but Maryland changed everything.
2002 bowling green game was amazing..i was only a freshman in high school..and it was my second Huskie game ever.

another one that sticks out is 2005 against western michigan..clinching the MAC championship game.
Great thread.

2004 at ISU, Wolfe takes it to the house on a 20+ yard run that gets called back, probably for holding. Very next play he gets the ball again and right back to the House. Welcome to the team G Dub.
young impressionable freshman-1998. standing in the pouring rain because the northern star has all week touted the possible end of the 23 game losing streak. standing in the pouring rain when even the football teams were called off the field. standing in the rain, running on the field as the goalposts came falling down. this is my first NIU homecoming game
NIU beatin Iowa state and throwing the goal posts into the lagoon. saaawEEEEEEt!
My family and I moved to Chicagoland in 2000 with no affiliation to NIU whatsoever. My son and I went to our first game in 2002 and loved it. During 2003 we got tickets to the Maryland game and we took a friend of his and his dad. My son was 11 at the time and that was the single greatest game we had witnessed together. As a result of that game we are now:

-Season ticket holders
-HASF members
-tailgaiters (5 hours before kickoff)

As a result of that my son who is now 15 has been to The Big House/The Horeshoe/Kinnick Stadium and Wiskie. Most of his friends never have had these experiences and we look forward to many more.

One season changes nothing. My son and I will be there for many years to come!

Much like AuroraHuskie, I have had the pleasure of enjoying this experience with my son and wife. My most vivid memory is at the Bowling Green game in 2002. We sat behind the Morris football team and they were cheering for BG because one of their players was recruited to go there. Any ways, my son was cheering loudly for NIU and they were giving each other crap the whole game. Back and forth, him against the Morris football team. By the end of the game, they were all joking and having a great time. For the last TD NIU scored, the team lifted him into the air and had him do pushups on their shoulders. We were season ticket holders for three years after that. However, he is now a sophomore in high school on his own football team so we only make it to one or two games a year. His dream in life is to one day play at NIU. He is a middle linebacker and center on his team. He absolutely loves McCarthy as a linebacker and Larry English. As a matter of fact, he will probably attend NIU in a couple of years as a student. He loves it every time we go up. These moments are the ones that are precious and never lost on a father who loves sports himself. Thanks for the thread to allow me to share it with all of you.

my first game was at Ohio State last year, how do you think that one felt
No doubt in my mind the best moment was the game in San Jose! It was my freshman year in band, and the weather coupled with the way the game started made it unforgettable. Troy's band was absolutely amazing and killed ours, but the game was so good that I don't even care about that. It was an incredible experience!

Wow. Probably the best post I have seen on here since I joined. Those kind of "testimonys" really make you realize that we are Huskie Nation, and even a 1-11 or 2-10 season cannot take away the pride we have in NIU and our team.

It also is a strong argument for playing UW here in DeKalb.
1983 and clinching the MAC and watching the goal posts come down. There wasnt a drop of VO left in the wine flask I had on my hip under my jacket.
