WKU has the second largest TV sports broadcast outlet in Kentucky.

"As the flagship station of the Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network, WKYU-PBS has the unique privilege of being able to say its staff members were the ones to make HSSN a reality. WKYU-PBS boasts an audience of about 250,000 over its 22 associated cable systems."

That's really nice. I hope WKU does end up in the MAC. Look at their basketball program. They would help the MAC's reputation a lot.....dare I say 2 bids to the NCAA tournament?

Obviously MAC fans know about WKU. We just had this discussion when the origional "rumor" floated around about a month ago. Let's spare all the "selling WKU" posts, if anyone has questions about WKU just refer to the threads from a month ago.

Let's save it for after something official happens. I don't doubt the MAC and WKU have had discussions, and an invite could be on its way. But nothing is official, nothing has been signed, so we are still speculating.

The radio announcement from ONE radio station in Lexington was premature. No announcement is coming in the next few days or you would see a LOT more media references. An announcement, if one is coming, is likely still several weeks away.

It was a Lexington station, and it seems the report came late in the day for anyone else to catch up with.

Tommorrow's Bowling Green Daily News could be interesting.

The Bowling Green Daily News is an afternoon paper, if their was something to it, their would have been time to get something in today's paper, and their wasn't anything.

BG's ABC station didn't have anything either.

I didn't realize that.

That said, if something is up, WKU's AD may not have been as prompt as usual returning certain phone calls. :)
Actually, there is precedent for a IAA not usually averaging 15K to move up to IA and then make it.......................any guesses who it is?? Well, if you can believe it, it's........... UCF!

UCF's last 5 years in IAA land:
91: 14,988 avg.
92: 8,480
93: 11,788
94: 22,950 (nice bump there!)
95: 12,833
96: First year of IA

So, see, all is "not lost"! And now KT should be squarely in WKU's corner that it can be done! 04-rock

WKU does not need to sell itself to the MAC. First, the posters on this board don't make the decisions. Second, most here would be in favor of adding WKU....no doubt about it.

If you had read, and even gone as far as interpret my post, I said to "cut WKU" some slack since they were 1-AA. Their numbers are respectable for that. Will they still draw well if they get beat around in 1-A for a while? Who knows. They do have an odd stadium....it's all on one side!!

As for MTSU, I would be more concerened about them. They are 1-A, and averaged 11K a game. I say this is a concern because the MAC is a conference that has several schools with attendance issues. Bringing in another may not be the best idea. Would they improve in the MAC and boost attendance? Who knows. Maybe.

I am actually more confident about WKU than MTSU. It may only be 1-AA, but WKU has shown that they can win and put butts in the seats. It's going to be very difficult, but translating that to 1-A could be accomplished. MTSU, I believe, has issues and is the weaker candidate.
I just wanted to say hi. I am a WKU fan. I have been watching this board for two or three months to see if the rumors were true. I hope that they are true. I used to think that CUSA was the place for us, but after all of the changes to CUSA, I think that the MAC is a better fit. CUSA is to wide spread. Also some people think that UCF, Memphis and Marshall will go to the Big East next round. That could leave Tulane, S Miss and UAB looking for a new home. I hope this works out, I look forward to playing in your converance.
Glad to have you posting here mjg100! Hopefully we will be conference mates in the future.
I think that the MAC may be planning on taking both MTSU and WKU which would set up a nice rivalry game between them..........if an annual sellout that would give either program a decent shot at averaging the required 15K.

P.S. KT, I wasn't dogging you with my last post...............it's just that you are pretty tough (to put it mildly) on all the other MAC programs on attendance, and no doubt there are some doubts about WKU's ability to draw. But, UCF did indeed make the jump after having getting less than 15K most of the time as a IAA so maybe we should cut WKU some slack on their ability to do so.
Kid -- there aren't some doubts ,there are a lot of doubts. Prior to last years 10k avg, the avg has been 7k for A LONG TIME. Last years attendance was finessed by EVERYTHING they did.

This is a perfect fit for the MAC. BRING THEM ON !! Goooooooooo MAC !

Paladin, if you hate the MAC so much, why do you feel the need to get on here and be a jerk? Just leave the board alone if you don't like it. Their is no need to be a constant jerk about everything. Your opinion is quite clear and understood. Surely their is a YSU or Gateway forum you could hang out on. Do you get a joy out of being constantly rude and negative? You must lead a very unhappy life.

Did you see UCF's averages while they were in I-AA? Very comparable to WKU's.
Jeff --- I don't hate the MAC or WKU . I have a different opinion and that opinion has been right on.

If I am wrong about something , I'll be the first to admit it. But I am batting 1000 with these guys. I don't wear rose-colored glasses.

If you are admitted to the MAC, good luck. You will play he11 getting & keeping 15k in the MAC. But your BB will do well in the MAC.

We will replace you in the GFC. No problem!

The MAC on the other hand is going to lose some schools and membership is going to change depending on several factors. If WKU does indeed come , I don't see you staying very long !!

My advice to you is --LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP !!

Just don't understand your purpose for wasting your time on here if you don't care. No one like someone who is just going to be negatve and complain about everything. The MAC is not your conference, it isn't going to be your conference. I would just think you could find something more constructive to do with your time on a Saturday afternoon then to jump on a message board and start a "see I told you so" campaign. Your negativity is getting old.

I have NEVER seen you post a SINGLE positive thing. No matter what, you are against everything said on here and everything done by the MAC.

Your different opinion has been heard and heard again and again and again again, it is noted throughout here. You can stop now, really.
Let me also say, if YSU was being considered, you would be singing a TOTALLY different tune. The MAC would be the greatest thing in the world.

WKU may never even be in the MAC. No one really knows on here what is going on. But I certainly think WKU is capable of doing it. If WKU doesn't join, I am content in the Gateway. I have nothing against it.
Jeff -- " See I told you so " comes AFTER the fact. I am not negative. I have a different opinion .But I always wait for someone to make a dumb position before I come on. Not hate , debate !!

There is a lot that I let go by.

My arguement on 15k was correct.
My arguement on losing MAC schools to 15k will prove correct.
You want the MAC ?? Good luck !! Staying there is the problem.

I like the MAC guys. Some of them aren't too bright, but I enjoy the debate. Some of them are funny. Some of them are nasty. Some of them don't know their butt.

If one of them comes on with a point I can support, I will.
Right now, this is folly !!
